WBCA announces Division 2 Girls Basketball All-State Team

Five players earned unanimous selection to highlight the 2017 WBCA Girls Basketball Division 2 All-State Team: Sydney Hilliard of Monroe, MacKenzie Schill of Pewaukee, Tayla Stuttley of Onalaska, Cassidy Trotter of Beaver Dam and McKenna Warnock of Monona Grove. 

Stuttley is a repeat first team all-state selection. The Minnesota State recruit averaged 18 points, 4.1 rebounds, 1.6 steals and 1.2 blocks per game for coach Aaron Arneson and Hilltoppers (19-6) who reached a sectional semi-final. Last season, Stuttley helped Onalaska reach the state tournament for the first time in program history. 

Hilliard led Monroe to the state tournament in her stellar sophomore campaign. The Division I prospect, who holds offers from all four in-state programs, averaged 19 points, 8.3 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 4.2 steals per game for coach Sam Mathiason and the Cheesemakers. 

Schill averaged 18.3 points, 5.9 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 4.2 steals per game for coach Todd Hansen and the Pirates who finished the year with a 20-4 record. 

Trotter led Beaver Dam to its first state title in program history and perfect 28-0 record. The Michigan Tech recruit averaged 15.6 points, 3.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 4.1 steals per game for coach Tim Chase and the Golden Beavers. Cassidy earned honorable mention all-state last season. 

Warnock finished third in the state in scoring with 26.7 points per game and also posted 10 rebounds, 2 assists, 1.6 steals and 1.5 blocks per game for coach Tyler Kuehl and the Silver Eagles. She holds numerous Division I offers, including all four in-state programs. 

Elizabeth Edinger of West De Pere helped the Phantoms reach a sectional semi-final and finish the year with a 22-2 record. She averaged 16.1 points, 3.5 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.8 steals per game for coach Ashley Anthon and the Phantoms. 

Shay Frederick of Hortonville led the Polar Bears (20-6) to their first state tournament appearance since 1987. The Valparaiso recruit scored 16.7 points per game with 79 three-pointers. 

Leah Porath of New London averaged 20.4 points, 8.7 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.4 steals per game for coach Troy Krause and the Bulldogs. The UW-Oshkosh recruit helped New London reach a sectional semi-final, falling to state qualifier Hortonville. 

Marissa Robson of Stoughton averaged 14.6 points, 7 rebounds and 1.8 steals per game for coach Brad Pickett and the Vikings. The Northern Iowa recruit led the Vikings to a sectional semi-final before falling to state qualifier Monroe. Robson was named honorable mention all-state as a junior when she helped Stoughton take home the Silver Ball. 

Janelle Shiffler of Union Grove averaged 18.6 points, 7.3 rebounds and 1.8 steals per game for coach Rob Domagalski and the Broncos. The Augustana University recruit helped Union Grove reach a sectional final as a junior.
