WSN Senior Baseball Awards: Pitcher Finalists

Wisconsin Sports Network is proud to showcase the WSN Senior Baseball Awards.

The pre-season watch list has been trimmed down to five finalists. Winners are announced the week of the spring baseball state tournament.

WSN Senior Baseball Awards -- Pitcher Finalists:

Taylor Brayton, Prentice -- Brayton was a work-horse for Prentice this year, going 5-2 on the mound with a pair of saves. The Marawood-North Player of the Year, he recorded 110 strikeouts in just 61 2/3 innings of work, posting a 1.25 ERA on the season. He also led the team with 21 RBI.

Ben Dragani, Catholic Memorial -- The Crusaders tied for the league championship in the extremely challenging Little Ten Conference, and the senior left-hander's emergence was a big reason for that. A Second Team All-Conference selection last year, Dragani was recently named the Gatorade Player of the Year in Wisconsin. Through regional games he was 5-0 with a 0.18 ERA, recording 59 strikeouts in 37 2/3 innings of work.

Tanner Halvorson, Eau Claire North -- The Huskies are in the Division 1 state tournament, and Halvorson's success on the mound is a big part of that. Entering state he is a perfect 9-0 with a 1.19 ERA in 10 games this year. The left-hander has struck out 70 batters in 47 2/3 innings.

Ryan Hoerter, Kenosha Indian Trail -- Hoerter is a multi-year standout for the Hawks and one of the most dominating pitchers in the state this season. Full stats are not available, but he has posted impressive outing after impressive outing this year. Hoerter is committed to Auburn.

Chas Sagedahl, Prairie du Chien -- Sagedahl helped the Blackhawks to a share of the SWC title with River Valley and appearance in the Division 2 sectionals. Entering the playoffs, he was 7-1 with 2 saves, recording 80 strikeouts in 50 innings with 0.28 ERA.
