WSN Senior Baseball Awards: Outfielder Finalists

Wisconsin Sports Network is proud to showcase the WSN Senior Baseball Awards.

The pre-season watch list has been trimmed down to five finalists. Winners are announced the week of the spring baseball state tournament.

WSN Senior Baseball Awards -- Outfielder Finalists:

Cole Evers, Freedom -- Evers hit .410 with a 1.133 OPS as a senior. Of his 34 hits, 17 were doubles as he had 53 total bases in 26 games. The senior recorded 15 RBI and scored 17 times.

Drew Freitag, Beloit Memorial -- The Purple Knights are a surprise participant in the Division 1 state tournament after knocking off Janesville Craig and Verona in sectional play. Freitag was a First Team All-Conference selection after hitting .451 with 24 RBI this year. He went 10 for 11 on stolen base attempts, scoring 22 runs. Also one of the team's top pitchers, he had a 1.058 OPS this season.

Payton Nelson, Wausau West -- Nelson was named the Player of the Year in the Wisconsin Valley Conference after an outstanding senior season and leading the Warriors to the league championship. In 12 conference games, Nelson hit .477 with 4 home runs, 15 RBI, and 6 stolen bases.

Lucas Reynolds, De Pere -- A co-Player of the Year in the Fox River Classic Conference, Reynolds batted .452 in 18 conference games. The senior recorded 13 RBI while scoring 26 times in 62 at-bats. He also stole a league-best 17 bases.

Gus Turner-Zick, Stevens Point -- A First Team All-Conference selection this year, Turner-Zick was a First Team All-State choice last season. He hit .500 as a senior in 12 conference games with 1 home run, 14 RBI, 11 runs scored, and 6 stolen bases.
