Emily Fell, Rice Lake softball: Rice Lake was involved in a couple high-scoring games with big-time drama at the Division 2 state tournament. In a semi-final game against Kewaskum, the Warriors trailed 5-4 heading into the bottom of the seventh inning. After singles by Johanna Hrdlicka and Mady Falstad, up stepped Fall. Her single to right-center drove in both players for a dramatic 6-5 walk-off win. In the title game win against Beloit Turner, Fell scored once and recorded a pair of RBI.

Haley Hestekin, Kaukauna softball:  Hestekin was dominant in the circle in leading the Galloping Ghosts to the Division 1 state championship last week. She got the win in all three games, allowing just one run in 21 innings pitched. Against Wilmot in the championship game, she struck out 11 while allowing just six hits in the 3-1 victory.

Andrea Hiess, McDonell Central softball: In its fifth state tournament appearance since joining the WIAA in 2000, McDonell Central completed a 22-4 season with its second state championship. The Macks also won it all in Division 4 in 2008. Against Blair-Taylor in the D5 title game, the Macks trailed 3-0 early on, but rallied for an 8-3 victory. Hiess finished three-for-four with three runs scored and an RBI. She added an RBI in the 5-4 victory Belmont in the semi-finals as well.

Sara Jordan, Juda/Albany softball:  The co-op program won its first state championship on Saturday, taking down Pacelli 2-1 in the D4 title game. Jordan had one of the RBI in that contest, plating Alexis Goecks on a third-inning single. In a 13-4 victory against Phillips in the semi-finals, Jordan went three-for-four with three runs scored and an RBI. She recorded a steal in both games.

Kayla Schwebke, Laconia softball:  The Spartans capped off a perfect 2017 campaign with its third consecutive state title. Schwebke was in the circle for all three championships, posting a pair of dominating shutout victories this season. She recorded nine strikeouts while allowing just four hits in the semi-final victory over Bloomer, adding 10 strikeouts on three hits in the championship game win over Weyauwega-Fremont.
