As part of the weekly preview I produce every Thursday showcasing the best games from around the state, I always highlight one contest as the Game of the Week. To expand on that, each week I'll post a poll where you -- the fans -- can vote for who you think will win the Game of the Week.

Kimberly (Preseason D1 #1) at Fond du Lac (Preseason D1 #10) -- Friday, 7 pm

What more can you say about the brilliance from Kimberly over the last several years. Head coach Steve Jones has guided the Papermakers to four straight state titles and a state record 56-game winning streak, which is also the longest active winning streak in the entire country. That winning streak nearly came to an end in Level 3 last year against Fond du Lac, as the Cardinals held a slim one-point halftime lead and went up 29-26 with just over five minutes remaining in the game. Kimberly would put together a game-saving scoring drive however, getting the go-ahead touchdown with 1:14 remaining to secure a 32-29 victory. The Papermakers bring back just 14 letterwinners this year and five total starters, so they'll be breaking in a number of new faces for 2017 in a hostile environment on the road. Fond du Lac will have plenty of experience on offense with the return of nine starters, including quarterback Jack Cole, leading receiver Peyton Nett, All-Conference tight end Henry Lange, and 900-yard rusher Colton Wasielieski. There is a very real chance that Kimberly's winning streak comes to an end this week.
