Week 1 WisSports.net Coaches Poll

Please note, divisional placement in our poll is based on our Enrollment Projections done earlier this year. Divisional placement in the WIAA playoffs is not determined until after the season and these projections can and will be different than the divisions at the end of the year. We have added an 8-Man Coaches Poll this season.

Division 1

Not too much changed in the Division 1 rankings, where Kimberly remains a unanimous top choice. Franklin, Sun Prairie, Bay Port, and Fond du Lac again round out the top five. The only loss by a ranked team was Verona going down to Madison West, as the Wildcats fall out of the rankings. Fresh off a win over Catholic Memorial, Muskego moves back into the poll at #10.

Division 2

Waunakee remains atop the Week 4 WisSports.net Division 2 Coaches Poll, as there were no changes in the top ten. Every ranked team won last week, and every team is in the same position, though several excellent teams are waiting in the wings just outside the poll.

Division 3

With Catholic Memorial going down to Muskego, it was going to be interesting to see if the Crusaders stayed at #1 in the Division 3 poll. Today, we find out that they drop to #2, as Notre Dame inherits the #1 position. New Richmond was the only other ranked team to lose, going down to D4 #1 Saint Croix Central, as the Tigers drop out of the poll, allowing undefeated Whitnall to enter at #10.

Division 4

Yet another division with a great amount of stability, as no ranked teams suffered defeats in Week 4. As a result, Saint Croix Central stays at #1, while all other teams retain the same spot in the rankings as the previous week.

Division 5

It was very close, but Stanley-Boyd retains the top spot in the Division 5 rankings, holding off former #1 and two-time defending state champ Amherst. Bonduel makes a move up this week from #7 to #5 after soundly defeating a very good Iola-Scandinavia team. Cedar Grove-Blegium's loss to D6 #1 Saint Mary's Springs drops the Rockets from fifth to seventh. Colby, who is seeing a resurgence at 4-0, moves into the poll at #10.

Division 6

It was not a good week to be a top ten team in Division 6. Half of last week's ranked squads went down, though Saint Mary's Springs and Grantsburg remain in the #1 and #2 positions. Iola-Scandinavia's loss to Bonduel drops the T-Birds from third to fifth this week. Pecatonica/Argyle's last second defeat at the hands of Black Hawk in a 22-20 thriller moves the co-op program from #6 to #7. Losses by Fennimore, Pacelli, and Racine Lutheran drop all three squads out, as teams entering this week include Cuba City, Glenwood City, and Markesan. Cuba City is the only 2-2 team in the rankings, as the Cubans have soundly defeated Darlington and Fennimore the last two games.

Division 7

Back to stability in the Division 7 rankings, where no teams in last week's poll suffered defeat in Week 4. Edgar remains atop the rankings by a wide margin, though #2 Bangor did steal a top vote as well.

8-Man Football

It was a busy week in 8-Man Football, where Luck remains the top-ranked team, followed closely by Oakfield. Abundant Life/St. Ambrose's 16-game conference and 12-game overall winning streaks came to an end, as the Challengers went down in overtime to Wisconsin Heights 56-48. Abundant Life drops from third to seventh this week, while Heights moves into the rankings at #6. Green Bay NEW Lutheran suffered its first loss of the year at the hands of Wausaukee, dropping from fourth to tenth.
