Week 5 Team of the Week Nominees:

Amherst -- Amherst was won three consecutive league titles and two straight Division 5 state championships, and the Falcons showed once again on Friday they are capable of continuing both streaks. Taking on the Week 4 Team of the Week Bonduel Bears, Amherst pulled away in the second half for a 47-20 victory to take control of the CWC-Large race. Marcus Glodowski threw for 187 yards and a touchdown for head coach Mark Lusic, adding 202 yards and 5 touchdowns on the ground in the battle of top five teams in Division 5.

Edgar -- The Wildcats recorded another shutout on Friday, blowing out Chequamegon 70-0 to remain undefeated on the season. The defending Division 7 state champions have yet to allow a point in 2017. Not only that, head coach Jerry Sinz recorded his 400th career victory, becoming just the second coach in state history to hit that mark (Bob Hyland of Saint Mary's Springs was the first). Sinz's career winning percentage of 0.832 is fifth in state history for those with at least 200 wins.

New London -- In 2015, New London went 0-9 and lost to Menasha by a final score of 83-10, giving up 559 rushing yards. Many of the New London players that took the field Friday night against Menasha were part of that group, and the exhilaration of the 21-20 overtime win against the Bluejays had to be special. Tied at 14 heading into the extra period, New London scored first and kicked the extra point. Menasha would reach the end zone on their possession, but New London stuffed an outside option play for the improbable victory, perhaps the upset of the entire season. Jack Noffke threw for 161 yards while rushing for three scores.

Whitefish Bay -- The Blue Dukes have high expectations this season, led by a strong senior group of athletes. One of the major goals is ending Homestead's 16-year run as North Shore Conference champions, and that took one step closer to reality last Thursday as Whitefish Bay shutout the Highlanders 26-0. Cade Garcia threw for two touchdowns, while Zach Lichosik kicked four field goals for head coach Jake Wolter. The defense recorded three interceptions.

Wrightstown -- Friday's game between Wrightstown and Fox Valley Lutheran was not only a showdown of highly-ranked teams, but the last two unbeatens in North Eastern Conference play. It was a dogfight throughout, as the Tigers' defense forced five turnovers, including a pair of interceptions. The result remained very much in question, as Wrightstown held a tenuous 9-7 lead in the fourth quarter, before forcing an FVL fumble, as Braydon Smith went 88 yards for an insurance score two plays later.
