The Watertown football team took a 28-12 lead over Madison Edgewood midway through the third quarter in a Badger-South Conference game Friday night, and it appeared the only Rally of the Week candidate could be the Edgewood Crusaders.

Sure enough, Edgewood rallied behind a strong vertical passing attack of Jack McNeil to score the next three touchdowns, taking a 29-28 lead on a 35-yard field goal from Murphy Penwell with 5:38 remaining in the game.

Despite some big numbers, things had not gone smoothly for the high-powered Watertown passing attack, as quarterback Dylan Fagerland had thrown four interceptions.

However, when it absolutely needed it the most, the Goslings were able to put together plays necessary to move the ball and give themselves a chance.

That chance came in the form of a 43-yard field goal attempt by Paul Kujawski. He booted it home with six seconds remaining as Watertown scored a 31-29 victory.

The win moves Watertown to 2-1 in the Badger-South and 3-2 overall. The Goslings will likely need to win at least two of the final four games to qualify for the WIAA postseason.
