Week 7 Team of the Week Nominees:

Badger -- "Win Probability" is an unofficial advanced stat developed by some that shows the likelihood of a team winning at a given point of a game based on the score, time remaining, etc. The Win Probability for Badger had to be awfully small on Friday, as the Badgers trailed Wilmot 24-13 in the fourth quarter, with Wilmot inside the 5-yard line. However, Will Keller picked off an A.J. Derby pass and went 100 yards for a touchdown. A few minutes later, a field goal by Josh Taddeo tied things up at 24, as the teams went to overtime. Badger scored first in the extra period, though not before converting a 4th and 6. Wilmot faced 4th and goal from inside the one-yard line on its possession, and a controversial ending saw the Panthers ruled down just short of the end zone after a fumble recovery, as Badger scored a 31-24 victory.

Brookfield Central -- The Battle for Brookfield had a lot on the line this season, as Central traveled to East. Both teams were undefeated and ranked in the top five of the most recent WisSports.net Division 2 Coaches Poll. There was a revenge factor as well, as Central beat East in the regular season last year, but East got the win in the playoffs en route to a state title. It was a defensive struggle throughout, with neither team eclipsing 210 yards of offense. Central did enough however, helped by a blocked punt touchdown in the second quarter, as well as a perfectly executed fake field goal with one second remaining in the first half for a touchdown. Central held off a couple late East chances for a 22-14 victory.

Hudson -- The Raiders dropped a couple hard-fought games to Stevens Point and Menomonie earlier this year, but have knocked off previously undefeated teams the last two weeks as they appear to be getting better and better in the run-up to the playoffs. After dispatching Rice Lake last week, Hudson faced off against 6-0 Eau Claire Memorial, dominating throughout. The Raiders led 14-0 at the end of the first quarter, 28-0 at halftime, and put a running clock on the Old Abes en roue to a 35-7 victory. The defense was outstanding, limiting Eau Claire Memorial to just 207 yards of offense.

Menasha -- After a shocking loss to New London a couple weeks ago, the Bluejays have responded quite well, and while not a "good" loss, that defeat appears to have re-focused Menasha at the right time. In a huge showdown against Bay Conference leader and previously unbeaten West De Pere, the Bluejays got an early score on a fumble recovery and won a defensive battle, 17-7. Alex Zeinert completed 11 of 18 passes for 117 yards, while Cole Popp scored a 16-yard touchdown for the Bluejays.

Osceola -- Like several of this week's Team of the Week nominees, Osceola relied heavily on defense and special teams for a big victory. Jacob Campbell took a punt 90 yards to the house to open the scoring in the second quarter before adding a 34-yard rushing touchdown in the third quarter. Brett Carlson booted a field as well, as the second-ranked Chieftains knocked off top-ranked defending Division 4 champion Saint Croix Central 17-0. You can be sure it was an extra sweet victory, as the 2015 champion Chieftains had beaten Saint Croix Central in the 2016 regular season before falling in the playoffs. Osceola got the win despite just 190 yards of total offense.
