PlayInTheDells.com Athlete of the Week Nominees: October 2-8

Da’Shaun Brown, Racine St. Catherine's football: It has been a huge season for Racine St. Catherine's junior quarterback Da'Shaun Brown. A few weeks ago, he earned a scholarship offer from the Wisconsin Badgers as an athlete prospect. On the field, he has been putting up ridiculous numbers, including in a 55-7 win over Kenosha St. Joseph on Saturday that clinched at least a share of the Metro Classic Conference title. Brown carried the ball just ten times but finished with 402 yards and 6 touchdowns, averaging better than 40 yards per carry. He also completed five of 11 passes for 92 yards and a score.

Mia Grunze, Waterford girls volleyball: Gunze finished with a team-high 24 kills in Waterford's sweep of Wilmot on Tuesday. Mia established a new Southern Lakes Conference record with 130 kills in a single season, while also breaking the conference record for attempts (268) in a season. Waterford is 19-6 overall and 6-0 in the SLC.

Kalan Narance, Winnebago Lutheran boys soccer: Narance tallied seven saves in the Vikings' tie, 1-1, against Wayland Academy on Thursday. On Friday against undefeated Oshkosh West (D1 #2), Kalan finished with 20 saves, including a penalty kick in the 72nd minute in the 1-1 tie. Winnebago Lutheran, 11-0-8, is ranked No. 9 in the latest Division 4 WSCA Coaches Poll.

Jaden Neumann, Mount Horeb boys soccer: Neumann broke the school record for goals in a career when he netted his 66th career goal in the Vikings' win, 3-2, over Baraboo on Tuesday. The previous record of 65 goals was set in 1999 before Jaden eclipsed that mark last week. Mount Horeb, 10-4-1, is ranked No. 3 in the latest WSCA Coaches Poll in Division 3.

Brooke Wierzbanowski, Mosinee girls volleyball: Wierzbanowski helped the Indians capture their first Great Northern Conference title since 2010. Brooke finished with 53 digs and 13 aces in the three matches at the conference tournament. Mosinee is 29-9 overall and 11-1 in the GNC.
