On Monday, the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association released results via Twitter from a survey provided to all head boys and girls basketball coaches in Wisconsin on support for the recently passed shot clock.

The one-question survey simply asked if the coach supported a shot clock in Wisconsin high school basketball.

A total of 722 head coaches responded. Of all respondents, 53.9% supported a shot clock, while 46.1% opposed.

A total of 333 girls basketball coaches took the survey, with the split 170 in favor (51.1%) and 163 opposed (48.9%).

Amongst boys coaches, a total of 389 took the survey, with 219 in support (56.3%) and 170 against (43.7%).

The WIAA previously indicated the WBCA had 80% support for the shot clock, but the source of those results was not clear.

The Wisconsin Interscholastic Board of Control voted 6-4 at its June meeting to implement a 35-second shot clock for varsity games beginning in the 2019-2020 season. After feedback from schools and at fall Area Meetings, the Board announced at its October 6th meeting that it will revisit the shot clock at its December 1st meeting.
