WisSports.net Week 9 Player of the Week Nominees:

Robert Brent, Wilmot - The winner of Wilmot and Westosha Central was guaranteed a playoff spot, while the loser would be squarely on the bubble with an uncertain postseason future. Despite missing quarterback A.J. Frisby with injury, Wilmot scored a big 47-13 win to clinch a playoff spot, thanks in large part to Brent, who carried the ball just 12 times, but put up 203 rushing yards and four scores. He also threw a 49-yard touchdown, had four tackles, and racked up 127 yards in punt returns.

Cody Bultman, Kewaunee - The Storm needed a victory to clinch a postseason spot, and it wasn't looking good against Peshtigo, who led 21-7 heading into the fourth quarter. That's when Bultman went to work. He threw a pair of fourth quarter touchdowns to tie it up and force overtime, then in the extra period scored on a two-yard touchdown run. The extra point gave Kewaunee a 28-27 win. Bultman finished with 233 passing yards and 3 scores, completing 20 of 39 passes.

Jacob Mancl, Wisconsin Rapids - Wisconsin Rapids claimed a share of the VFA-West title with a 51-20 victory over D.C. Everest on Friday, closing out a game the Raiders led 31-14 at halftime. Senior quarterback Jacob Mancl was outstanding, completing 20 of 30 passes for 437 yards and 5 touchdowns, including a pair of 80+ yard scores.

Canon Melstrand, West Bend West - West Bend West didn't have a lot to cheer about this season, with just one win heading into the final week of the year. The Spartans had a chance to end on a high note, however, taking on cross-hall rival West Bend East. Connor Melstrand had a 50-yard touchdown run and 97-yard touchdown run in the third quarter to put West up 14-6, then scored a three-yard touchdown in overtime to secure a 21-14 victory. He finished with 27 carries for 291 yards and 3 touchdowns, while completing 7 of 15 passes for 72 yards and adding six tackles on defense.

Zayne Rodencal, Fox Valley Lutheran - Fox Valley Lutheran's Zayne Rodencal tied a 91-year old state record by scoring eight rushing touchdowns on Friday in a 62-36 victory over Marinette. He would finished with 32 carries for 457 yards, as his yardage total is third in state single-game history. He also added a catch for 10 yards and a pair of tackles. West De Pere's Gilford Skenadore set the state single-game rushing touchdown mark way back in the 1926 season.
