WisSports.net Level 2 Player of the Week Nominees:
John Chenal, Grantsburg - You name it and Chenal did it on Friday, as the multi-dimensional offensive threat was all over the field in a 40-7 victory over Elk Mound. he threw a 24-yard touchdown, rushed 19 times for 131 yards and a score, and caught two passes for 92 yards and a touchdown on offense. Defensively, he had 15 tackles and a pair of interceptions. He also punted three times, averaging 44 yards per punt.
Jacob Heyroth, Lodi - Lake Mills was chomping at the bit for a rematch with Lodi after an early season running clock loss, but it was a case of "Be careful what you wish for" in Level 3, as the Blue Devils dominated 35-0. Senior running back Jacob Heyroth rushed for 392 yards and 4 touchdowns on 35 carries, as he now leads the state in rushing on the season and has a shot to become just the second player in state history to hit the 3,000-yard mark. He is 383 yards shy heading into Level 4. This marks the third straight playoff game he has gone over 300 yards.
Bryce Huettner, Iola-Scandinavia - Huettner and the T-Birds beat Marathon for a second time this year on Friday, pulling away for a 32-12 home victory. The lead was just 20-12 heading into the fourth quarter, but Huettner scored a pair of rushing touchdowns to give the T-Birds some breathing room. He would finish with 264 yards and 2 touchdowns on 26 carries.
Ean Rau, Abbotsford - Unbeaten Clear Lake led 8-0 over Abbotsford on Friday night, but the Falcons would score the next 36 points and cruise home for a 50-14 victory. Rau was one of three players to rush for at least 90 yards in the game for Abbotsford, finishing with 13 carries for 159 yards and a touchdown. He also added a second-quarter interception return for a touchdown, 17 tackles on defense, and blocked a punt.
Will Stewart, Appleton North - Appleton North advanced to Level 4 for just the second time in school history, and first time since 2009, thanks to a 49-41 victory over top-seeded Bay Port on Friday night. Stewart had a pair of long touchdown runs in the game, scoring from 85-yards out to get the Lightning on the board in the first quarter before adding a 70-yarder late in the third. He finished with 20 carries for 243 yards and 2 touchdowns.
