Top 15 Moments: #10 - Epic 23-play drive seals a state title for Homestead

It was one of the most impressive drives in state history, allowing Homestead to salt away a 28-12 victory over Waukesha West in the 2015 Division 2 state title game.

Leading 21-6, Homestead took over at its own 21-yard line with 4:19 left in the third quarter following a West touchdown by Peter MacCudden. After five third-down conversions and a pair of fourth down pickups, the Highlanders finished off an epic 23-play, 79-yard drive that took 13:03 off the clock on a Matt Winters 1-yard rush on fourth and goal.

Winters would carry it a total of 13 times on the drive, including the final seven plays. It was tough sledding, as he accounted for just 25 yards on those 13 carries with a long of seven yards, but he kept the chains moving for the Highlanders. He finished with 30 carries for 98 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

By the time the drive ended with 3:22 left on the clock, Homestead had a three-score lead, leaving West with little hope to come back. For the game, Homestead was four-for-four on fourth down conversions and eight-for-16 on third down conversions.

It was the fifth state title for Homestead, all under head coach Dave Keel. Waukesha West would settle for its second straight silver ball as state runner-up.
