Week 1 WisSports.net Boys Basketball Coaches Poll

Division 1

Three-time defending state champion Stevens Point struggled with Rhinelander to open the season, but the Panthers dropped their second game against Bay Port last Friday, 76-66 at Bay Port. Word also came that All-State senior Joey Hauser will miss time with a lingering ankle injury. Stevens Point dropped to fourth this week, as Oshkosh North takes over the #1 position. Bay Port is second.

Division 2

Kaukauna remains the top-ranked team in Division 2, tough there is plenty of movement elsewhere in the rankings. La Crosse Central dropped its opening game in double overtime to Eau Claire North, as the defending state champions slide to fourth this week. Stoughton, Wauwatosa West, and Pius XI Catholic all lost last week as well. Newcomers this week include #7 Monona Grove and #10 Burlington.

Division 3

Compared to the rest of the divisions, there was a good amount of stability in Division 3. Xavier remains on top, followed closely by Brown Deer. There is some minor shuffling in the rankings, and Prescott replaces Beloit Turner this week.

Division 4

Destiny has played an incredibly difficult schedule already this year, beating Martin Luther to open the season, before falling to Whitnall last week before a victory over Homestead on Saturday. The defending champions drop out of the top spot this week to second, as The Prairie School moves into the #1 position. A bit of shuffling occurred elsewhere in the poll, though no other teams would suffer defeat in the last week.

Division 5

While Bangor hasn't played a game yet due to the football team's state title run, the Cardinals are still top-ranked this week. McDonell Central remains second, with Black Hawk, who hasn't played yet either, the third-ranked team. Last week's fourth through sixth-ranked teams, Assumption, Lourdes Academy, and Hilbert, all tasted defeat and dropped out of the poll. New this week are Almond-Bancroft, Solon Springs, and Wild Rose.
