If you have alumni news, please send it to Colton Wilson by 6 p.m. on Mondays.

Alumni Update

Last week we recapped some athletes that have had amazing starts to the basketball season at the pro and college level. This week, and in the weeks to follow, we will recap the past week of games and highlight those players who had great games or game.

Sam Hauser was Mr. Basketball in Wisconsin in 2016 for Stevens Point. Last week he continued that dominance in state by averaging 16.5 points per game for Marquette in victories over Vermont and Wisconsin. Against Vermont, Hauser shot 70% from the field.

Former Kettle Moraine standout Paul Miller shot 75% and had 30 points for North Dakota State in their 88-79 win over North Dakota on December 9th. His performance in that game earned him the Summit League Player of the Week honors last week.

East Troy graduate Nate Dodge put on quite the shooting display for UW-Stevens Point in their 91-77 win over Hope College on the 8th. Dodge went 10-13 from the three point line en route to 42 points for the Pointers. That performance garnered him WIAC Player of the Week honors.

Elsewhere in the WIAC, Jack Flynn (Appleton West) and Ben Boots (Kimberly) both had double doubles in UW-Oshkosh’s 79-74 win over Calvin College. Charlie Noone (Lourdes Academy) chipped in 19 points in the victory.

Kostas Antetokounmpo of Dominican recorded his second double-double of the season for Dayton in their 79-66 win over Tennessee Tech on the 6th. Kostas is averaging 5.9 points and 3.9 rebounds per game starting for the Flyers.

Two players mentioned last week continued their early season tears for their Division 1 squads. Darral Willis Jr. (Madison Memorial) had 25 points in 34 minutes for Wichita State in their wins against South Dakota State and Oklahoma State. Donovan Jackson (Pius XI) helped Iowa State to 3 wins this past week by compiling 61 points in those 3 games, including two 20-point performances.

In Tech’s two victories this past week, Monroe averaged 28.5 points and 10.5 rebounds per game while shooting 27-27 from the free throw line. The Ashwaubenon graduate was named the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference’s Player of the Week for the second straight week.

Two division 1 players averaged over 20 points per game this past week for their respective ball clubs. Reed Timmer (New Berlin Eisenhower) averaged 20.5 points per game while shooting 53% from the field for the Drake Bulldogs. James Batemon (Milwaukee Riverside) averaged 25.5 points per game in Loyola Marymount’s two contests this past week.

In another game, Concordia St. Paul’s Evan Wesenberg (Germantown) went 7 of 8 from the field for 18 points in 15 minutes in the team’s 85-75 loss to Upper Iowa.

Chris Knight has impressed in his first season at the Ivy League school, Dartmouth. The Madison Memorial graduate is averaging 12.9 points and 4.6 rebounds per game including his 17 point performance in Dartmouth’s 73-66 win over Maine this past week.

The Midwest Conference is known for having players from the state perform well on the football field as well as the basketball court. Cal Schultz (Muskego) averaged 21 points in Ripon College’s two victories over Beloit and Knox Colleges.

D.J. DeValk set his personal scoring record in consecutive games for St. Norbert College in their wins over Lawrence and Cornell Colleges this past week.
