The WSN15 series will celebrate the 15th Anniversary of WisSports.net by looking back at the top players, teams, and moments of the past 15 years (2003-2017).

The Top 15 Players countdown is not a recruiting ranking and not indicative of what the players did after high school. It is a ranking of the top high school players, the impact they had for their team, and the dominance they displayed while in high school.

Top 15 Players: #14 - Jayme Wells, Kimberly

Jayme Wells was a nice player for the Kimberly Papermakers as a junior, earning First Team All-Conference recognition at defensive back as the team went unbeaten and claimed a Division 2 state title.

The improvement he showed as a senior was something special, however. Kimberly would go undefeated once again to claim a second straight D2 championship, as Wells was a dominant player in ever facet of the game.

In the 28-14 title game win over Verona, Wells scored three touchdowns in the second quarter in three different ways. He opened the scoring with a 5-yard run early in the period, adding a 34-yard touchdown catch midway through the quarter. After Verona pulled within 14-7, Wells took the ensuing kickoff 88 yards to the house.

He would finish the game with 223 all-purpose yards, three touchdowns, and an interception on defense.

It was a microcosm of what kind of complete-game impact he had throughout the season. He'd finish with 17 rush attempts for 251 yards and 6 touchdowns while hauling in 49 catches for 1,044 yards and 15 touchdowns.

Wells would earn WFCA First Team All-State recognition as a wide receiver, adding First Team laurels on defense as well. He would be recognized as the WFCA Defensive Player of the Year after recording four interceptions with 34 tackles on the season.

Wells committed to play baseball at Northern Illinois, though he did receive some football interest after his strong season, though no Big Ten programs offered more than a walk-on opportunity. After a year on the NIU baseball team, Wells also joined the football team, playing several years on the gridiron as well.

Wells' dominance all over the football field was a significant factor in Kimberly's repeat state title and one of the top all-around performances in recent memory.
