Wisconsin Wrestling Online releases updated rankings for January 17

Wisconsin Wrestling Online released its fifth team and individual rankings of the season Thursday.

After considerable movement last week, this week was much more even-keeled. Read on to learn more about how the latest rankings shook out.

The Teams

Division 1

Holmen continues to maintain its grasp on the top spot in the rankings. The only minor changes to the team hierarchy came toward the bottom. Elkhorn moved from not ranked up to the No. 11 spot. The Elks last appearance in the team rankings was an Honorable Mention nod in the first poll of the season,. Arrowhead dropped from 11 to 12.

Division 2

As it has been all season long, Luxemburg-Casco remains the alpha in D2. Monroe jumped to the No. 11 position after not being ranked in the prior poll. Edgerton fell from 12 to Honorable Mention. Kewaskum and Campbellsport each earned Honorable Mention designation after being not ranked last week. The Cougars return to the team rankings for the first time since Dec. 7.

Division 3

Though Stratford remains atop the division, D3 saw the most change of any division in this week’s edition of the team rankings.

Saint Croix Falls moved up to No. 3 as Coleman, the previous occupant of that position dropped to 4. Shiocton advanced on spot to No. 5 and Boyceville climbed to sixth as former No. 5 Darlington/Blackhawk fell all the way to Honorable Mention.

Clear Lake and Bonduel are each up one position to No. 7 and No. 8, respectively.

Weyauwega-Fremont continues its ascension up the rankings, coming in at No. 9 this week – a three-position improvement from a week ago.

Lancaster sits at No. 10 after not being ranked a week ago. Athens dropped from No. 10 to No. 12.

Pittsville joints the party after being tabbed Honorable Mention.

New No.1s

Each division saw at least one wrestler lay fresh claim to a No. 1 spot at their weight class.

Stoughton’s Hunter Lewis is up to the top spot in D1 at 120 pounds after previously occupying the second position.

Fernando Coronado is now tops in D1 at 126 after coming in at No. 2 in last week’s rankings.

In Division 2, Josh Frerk of Denmark is the new No. 1 at 285.

Tate Murty (Cochrane-Fountain City) is now No. 1 in D3 at 132. He was previously third at 138.
