The swing is most potent when everyone is a threat with a different leading scorer every night. Granted there still needs to be a go-to guy, who would probably be Trevon, but it would be best if the Badgers could score like this...

Hughes - 12 ppg
Bohannon - 11 ppg
Leuer - 10 ppg
Wilson - 10 ppg
Nankivil - 9 ppg
Berggren - 5 ppg
Jarmusz - 5 ppg
Evans - 4 ppg
Taylor - 3 ppg

I think that this would be an awesome scoring distribution. I think that with this distribution teams that play good team defense(namely Purdue) will shut down UW. But, they will definitely be above .500 if they can score like this. I guess I'm just a pessimist because a lot of these guys have yet to show me consistent good play. I really hope that the Badgers can be successful this year and I definitely think that they will be a part of March Madness again this year!
Re:Wisconsin wins opener (me123)

what I'm saying by that remark is they need someone to step up huge, and in my opinion, have a monster offensive year if the badgers hope to be an elite team in the B10 this year. I hope it happens but I was just comparing the odds as not-so-good. I'm not saying they won't be better than last year, I'm just saying a lot of things have to come together for them to be an elite team in the B10.
Re:Wisconsin wins opener (Buckybacker)

me123

SOMEONE needs to step up and contribute 17+ ppg.

No they don't. Before that it was Devin Harris. My point being if you expect any badger to average 17+ ppg this year you are crazy. There is one guy with potential to do that and that is Trevon Hughes. However, I would look for Trevon to be much more of a passer and leader on the team this year then scorer. I would be much happier with 4-5 guys averaging 9-15 ppg like we have had in recent years.

Also, this badger team is better then last years because we actually have some post players that are willing to score GOING towards the hoop instead of fading away. This is not a knock againts Marcus because he did it amazingly (and hes currently in the NBA)! But having Berggerren and Nankivil and Leure as all players 6'8" or taller being able to make legitimate post moves is going to be a huge help for the swing offense. its going to mean teams will have to double down more and that the kick out three and actual SWING aspect of the offense will be much more effective. Also having a couple of players considered tweeners can only benefit the swing as well (Rob Wilson and Ryan Evans) These guys have the athleticism to post up and knock down some outside shots in the offense. Im excited as anyone about this team this year and THEY WILLL BE BETTER THEN LAST YEAR"S TEAM. GUARENTEED!
Re:Wisconsin wins opener (me123)

I have high hopes for UW's young core. Evans, Wilson, Taylor, Nankivil, Leuer, etc.(although Juniors aren't that young) I just have yet to see anything from these guys yet. Leuer and Nankivil have both shown flashes of brilliance, but, neither was consistent. I want to see J-Bo step up and hit some threes with consistency rather than just have a big game or 2. I think that the Badgers CAN finish in the top 5, but, if they can still remains to be seen. Lots of question marks that need an answer and SOMEONE needs to step up and contribute 17+ ppg.
Re:Wisconsin wins opener (Alando=Amazing)

MBC2K4

I don't see how they can be better than last year having lost Landry & Krabbenhoft. They have a lot of babyfat scrubs on this year's team along the frontline, that won't get it done in Big 10 play.

I just think this team will flow better than last year. In Landry and Krabbenhoft they don't really lose all that much. The only thing they won't be able to replace from those guys is the tenacity of Krabbenhoft. Last year the offense was run way too much through Landry and he neve really lived up to the hype that year. He was uncomfortable in the role of the go to scorer and was anything but consistent. Krabbenhoft was a great player don't get me wrong, but he just wasn't a threat to score. Defenses could sag off of him because of that.

This year with Nankivil and Leuer starting the swing offense will just run a lot more smoothly. Both are threats at the three point line. Both are just as able to score as Landry was, and both are bigger bodies down low. Guard depth is also much improved this year as Rob Wilson and Jordan Taylor have a year under their belts. Rob Wilson really looks much more comfortable this year. Trevon and Bohannon will fill the role of team leaders and both look improved from last year.

Ryan Evans may by the end of the year be getting more minutes than Jarmusz. Jarmusz is solid, but he isn't dynamic. Ryan Evans is a big athletic swingman and just what they were missing last year. He plays unbelievable defense and has a knack for getting blocks and altering shots.

I just think that they have gained more through improvement over the offseason than they lost with the departures of Krabbenhoft and Landry. They will be able to fill those holes with ease in my opinion and just improve overall. The offense seemed so forced last year, and I know this was against Bemidji St. but, it seems smooth and the open looks just came easy and there wasn't any panic or rushing.

I'm telling you, this team is better than last year.

As for Gavinski and Markolf. They may never see the floor, definitely not this season, and Gavinski doesn't have many left.
