voice_of_reason Coach40 a fan Coach40 And guess who gets to be the announcer their next game?! YOU ? How fun. Good luck to GC It is going to be a fun game to announce. Hurley is a good squad with some decent speed and power. GC will have their hands full but I will go with the boys in blue. Glenwood faced two different offenses so far in Clear Lake and Webster. Webster pounded the ball and CLear Lake was very fast and athletic. I think by seeing both of those so far they should do ok with Hurley. Midgets vs. Hilltoppers Not as much fun as Trojans... but still some possibilities there! Have fun - and good luck! Since you brought it up...how about Hurley vs Beaver Dam...Midgets and Beavers...yikes

Has any one on this thread even seen Hurley play this year besides cjspeedboy? The Midgets are probably one of the most well balanced teams in D-6. If you want to play smash-mouth UP style football, then you will see a heavy dose of Justin Renlund. Who mind you ran for 185 yards against Flambeau. You want to talk speed, how about Daulton Levra and Jake Rowe. Hurley plays in a very tough conference. Their one loss came on a last minute pass play to the team that will most likely be playing for a state title in Michigan. They also beat Crystal Falls, AKA The Forest Park TROJANS, this year, a team that has either won or been runner-up for a state title the last six years. Bottom line, this year Hurley is the real deal.

yes i have seen hurley play and that is michigan football.Flambeau was good but the one thing that u needed to do was stop their full back and thats wat the midgets did. i think flambeau was overated and nothing to brag about by beating them. i guess we will find out how "good" they truly are. glenwood beat clear lake a team that averaged 40 some points a game and a player that averaged close to 200 yrds a game and held him to only 38 yrds and one TD total

If I can interrupt all of you comediens for a brief second, you might be interested to know there is another high school located in Butternut, WI, approx. 40 miles SW of Hurley who is also known as the Midgets. They don't field a football team & co-op with Glidden, WI for some sports. The history of the nickname, Midgets has to do with the Mining Industry, which was big in that area in the late 1800's & 1st half of the 20th century. The industry hired shorter men to work in the mines because of low ceilings in the mines. Consequently & somewhat tongue-in-cheek these hard-working & long-working (12-14 hrs. @ day) men were referred to as "midgets." Thanks for your time, now can resume your comedy hour.

Thank you Professor Jagger, that was very good information. You should change your moniker to Cliff Claven.

With all this recent uproar about abolishing Indian mascots, how has the "Midgets" escaped political activist scrutiny? I mean what is worse: The Indians or The Midgets ? = Indians < Midgets

I mean what is worse: The Indians or The Midgets ? = Indians < Midgets in regards to this...I'd be willing to bet at most 20 teams in the country use the nickname "midgets" at their school...also, odds are those teams are relatively small schools... Mick, I drive through Butternut multiple times a year and hunt/own a cabin in Glidden...how do you know so much about the area!?! Not too many people have ever heard of Glidden or Butternut for the fact

I was at the Flambeau/Hurley game last week and I am sold on them. They are a very good team with multiple weapons...

I'll never foget when Augusta girls basketball made it to state and an announcer said of the parents that they " are so proud of their little beavers" not making it up and will never foget.

Next week they run into the buzz saw that is the Edgar Wildcats. I'm guessing Edgar by at least 30 if not more.
