You can now add Northern Illinois University to the list of schools who have extended a scholarship offer to Brookfield Central class of 2010 running back
Xavier Whitaker (6-3, 200).
“I called Coach (Matt) Limegrover yesterday and he said that everyone loved my tape. He said every other back they watched didn't come close to me,” Whitaker explained. “I was pretty excited when he told me they offered me.”
Whitaker had previously garnered scholarship offers from Indiana, Buffalo, Northern Iowa, Eastern Illinois and Illinois State. In addition, interest has come from Wisconsin, Eastern Michigan, Alabama, Memphis, Louisville and North Dakota State.
“It feels great to have all these offers right now,” Whitaker said. “It just shows hard work pays off.”
The third known state prospect to garner an offer from NIU this recruiting cycle, Whitaker joins La Crosse Logan offensive lineman Matt Eggen and Kenosha Tremper offensive lineman/defensive lineman Zac Epping.
Whitaker totaled 116 carries for 872 yards and 12 touchdowns as a junior in route to earning CNI Newspapers high honorable-mention all-suburban,
Waukesha Freeman first-team all-Waukesha County, first-team all-conference and Greater Metro Conference Co-Offensive Back of the Year honors.
