A new batch of rankings but the same end result – Whitefish Bay punter
Will Hagerup once again sits atop the WisFootball.net player rankings thanks to excellent camp performances during the summer, an extremely high ranking on the national level, and listing scholarship offers from such high profile programs as Florida, Ohio State, Michigan and Wisconsin.
Next up after Hagerup are No. 2 Kimberly defensive end
Mike Hardy, No. 3 D.C. Everest linebacker
Konrad Zagzebski, No. 4 Madison East wide receiver
Marquis Mason and No. 5 Brookfield Central defensive tackle
Bryce Gilbert.
Hardy, a University of Iowa commit, chose the Hawkeyes over scholarship offers from Wisconsin, Purdue, Minnesota, Iowa State, Indiana and Nebraska.
Zagzebski, who is coming off of a junior season injury, appears to be healthy and is primed and ready for a successful senior season. Selected to the Under Armour All-American Game, Zagzebski is committed to the University of Wisconsin after previous committing to the Minnesota Golden Gophers.
Mason is a raw prospect with perhaps more untapped potential than any other player in the state's class of 2010. Mainly a basketball prospect prior to this season, Mason possesses a ton of athleticism that should translate well to the football field. Mason is committed to the University of Wisconsin where he is also considering walking-on to the basketball team.
Gilbert is an aggressive and beefy defensive tackle who committed to the University of Wisconsin over scholarship offers from Indiana, Eastern Illinois, Northern Iowa and Illinois State.
Rounding out the top 10 are No. 6 Arrowhead quarterback
Tom Parish, No. 7 Milwaukee Marquette defensive back
Michael Trotter, No. 8 Brookfield Central running back
Jeff Lewis, No.9 Berlin offensive lineman
Dallas Lewallen and No. 10 Waunakee defensive lineman
Jake Irwin.
Parish chose the University of Minnesota very early on in the recruiting process over offers from Western Michigan and Eastern Illinois.
Conversely, Lewis decided to wait out his recruiting process for a while and collected scholarship offers from Wisconsin, Indiana, Western Michigan, Northern Iowa, Illinois State and Southern Illinois before eventually committing to the Badgers.
Benefactors of a successful summer camp season, Trotter, Lewallen and Irwin all saw a significant rise in their stock thanks to standout camps and subsequent scholarship offers from the University of Wisconsin.
While Wisconsin was the only school to extend a scholarship offer to Lewallen and Irwin, Trotter chose the Badgers over offers from Indiana, Western Michigan, Central Michigan, Northern Iowa, North Dakota and Illinois State.
There are a several newcomers to the WisFootball.net top 40 and they include No. 18 Little Chute offensive lineman/defensive lineman
Cody Evers (Indiana commit), No. 33 Pewaukee offensive lineman
Brad Kaatz, No. 39 Superior defensive back
Zach Colvin (North Dakota State commit), and No. 40 Arrowhead offensive lineman
Brad Fisher.
How are the rankings determined? The WisFootball.net player rankings are based on a combination of criteria including: film observation, recruiting interest, statistics, postseason awards, combine and camp performances, size for position, strength of competition, and recommendations from coaches.
What does the number of stars next to a player's name mean? The stars system is an attempt to gauge the type of prospect a player is and predict where their skills might be best suited.
5-stars = Major Division I prospect (Big Ten, Big 12, SEC, PAC 10)
4.5-stars = Lower Division I prospect (MAC, CUSA, WAC, MWC, Division I-FCS)
4-stars = Division I-FCS or High Division II prospect (NDSU, UND, SDSU, USD, UNI)
3.5-stars = Division II or High Division III prospect
3-stars = Division III prospect
