French fields third scholarship offer

Make it three scholarship offers for Menomonee Falls kicker Kyle French (6-1, 180). Already holding offers from the University of Wisconsin and University of Wyoming, French picked up offer No. 3 on Saturday courtesy of a Mid-American Conference school.

“Coach (Jerry) Kill from Northern Illinois offered me this morning at around 12:30 p.m.,” French told WSN on Saturday afternoon.

Ranked as the No. 13 overall prospect and No. 2 specialist in the class of 2010 by WSN, French has drawn interest from Vanderbilt, Purdue, Clemson and a host of other Division I-FBS schools in addition to his current list of scholarship offers.

The fourth known state prospect to garner a scholarship offer from NIU this recruiting cycle, French joins Kenosha Tremper's Zac Epping (Minnesota commit), La Crosse Logan's Matt Eggen (Minnesota commit), and Brookfield Central's Xavier Whitaker (Indiana commit).

Named CNI Newspapers honorable-mention all-suburban and second-team all-conference as both a kicker and punter, French has drawn much acclaim on the national kicking scene with rave reviews from both Chris Sailer and Jamie Kohl. Sailer ranks French as the No. 6 kicker in the nation's class of 2010 and a 5-star prospect while Kohl ranks him as the nation's No. 11 kicker and a 5-star prospect. Kohl also ranks French as the No. 44 punter in the nation and a 4.5-star prospect. Named to Sailer's Elite Top 12, French was the winner of the field goal competition held at Sailer's 7th Annual National Kicking Event.

French completed 25 of 25 extra point attempts and 1 of 3 field goal attempts as a junior last season. He also averaged 60-yards per kickoff and 36.9-yards per punt.
