Division I's courting Costigan, two looking at Rosa

-Alread holding scholarship offers from six Division I-FCS football programs (Illinois State, North Dakota, South Dakota, Northern Iowa, Southern Illinois, North Dakota State), Muskego offensive lineman/defensive end Kyle Costigan (6-5, 270) could very well be on the verge of receiving his first Division I-FBS scholarship offer thanks to two members of the Mid-American Conference.

“Central Michigan University and Ball State are very interested and I feel they're both going to offer soon,” Costigan told WSN this week. “They both really liked my film and are recruiting me for offensive tackle.”

While CMU and Ball State might be the closest to extending an offer, a school closer to home has expressed interest and talked about the potential to earn one as well.

“Coach (Charles) Partridge from Wisconsin came to our last game, and Coach (Bob) Bostad called my coach and told him they really liked how I played, and that they are now recruiting me for both offensive line and defensive line, not just defensive line,” Costigan explained.

“With the whole Wisconsin situation, they have 17 scholarships to give out, and I think 16 commits, so it's me and a couple other guys fighting for that last scholarship.”

A major standout on the defensive side of the ball as a junior, Costigan totaled 45 solo tackles, 21 assisted tackles, four sacks, three tackles for loss, two knockdowns, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery in 2008. He was named CNI Newspapers first-team all-suburban, Waukesha Freeman honorable-mention all-Waukesha County and first-team all-Southeast Conference North Division for his efforts.

Costigan was also named CNI Newspapers honorable-mention all-suburban and honorable-mention all-Southeast Conference North Division on the offensive line as a junior.

Costogan is ranked as the No. 19 overall prospect and No. 5 defensive lineman in the class of 2010 by WSN.

-Two colleges have shown increased interest in West Allis Hale offensive lineman Evan Rosa (6-3, 282) as of late - Division II Winona State and Division I United States Military Academy (Army).

“I have been talking to Winona State about every week and they said that I am the best offensive lineman on their board,” Rosa explained. “I am also taking an unofficial visit out there on November 7th when they play Minnesota-Duluth, which should be a good game.

“Another team that has liked what they saw on my senior film is Army,” Rosa said. “They are new to me, but I have been in touch with Coach (Joe) Ross through e-mails and phone calls. They have requested my senior highlight film.

“I believe that I can make a big impression at the next level and that is my goal,” Rosa said of his future. “I hope that when more colleges see my senior film and highlight film that they will think the same.”

Ranked as the No. 29 overall prospect and No. 5 offensive lineman in the class of 2010 by WSN, Rosa was a CNI Newspapers first-team all-suburban and second-team all-conference selection as a junior.
