-Racine Horlick quarterback
Steve Morris (6-0, 184) just might be the master of the spread offense in the state of Wisconsin.
A three-year starter for the Rebels, Morris had seen plenty of success as a sophomore and junior, but it's his senior season that has really seen things take off.
Through seven game this season, Morris has completed 147 of 235 passing attempts for 1,471 yards and 18 touchdowns and also rushed 141 times for 796 yards and nine touchdowns while leading Racine Horlick to a 6-1 record.
That follows a junior season in which he completed 90 of 174 passing attempts for 862 yards and six touchdowns and rushed 107 times for 482 yards and six touchdowns, earning all-Southeast Conference South Division honors in the process.
As a sophomore, he completed 90 of 203 passing attempts for 1,073 yards and eight touchdowns and carried the ball 102 times for 181 yards and three touchdowns, receiving honorable-mention all-Southeast Conference South Division accolades for his efforts.
It's numbers and recognition like that that'll draw college attention and Morris has seen his fair share of interest as of late.
Mail has come from Minnesota, Iowa State, Illinois State, Southwest Baptist University, Northern Michigan, North Central College, St. Norbert College, St. Olaf College, Jamestown College, Bethel College, UW-Oshkosh, UW-La Crosse and UW-Whitewater.
In addition, Oregon, North Dakota and UW-Whitewater have requested film.
Morris took an unofficial visit to UW-Whitewater on October 4
th and to the University of Wisconsin on October 11
th. He also attended summer camps at Illinois, Illinois State, Western Michigan, Northern Illinois and Northern Iowa.
A WSN Player of the Week Nominee for week 6, Morris completed 16 of 27 passing attempts for 186 yards and three touchdowns and rushed 33 times for 165 yards and a touchdown in a 35-28 comeback victory over Racine Park.
Morris reported a 4.53-second 40-yard dash, 225-pound bench press max and 405-pound squat max.
-Somerset defensive lineman
Darrin Emmeck (6-1, 260), an
Eau Claire Leader-Telegram honorable-mention all-area and first-team all-conference as a junior, is receiving weekly phone calls and film requests from South Dakota State, Minnesota-Moorhead and Northern State.
Additionally, mail has come from North Dakota, University of Mary, Winona State, Bemidji State and Minnesota-Duluth.
“No (scholarship) offers yet, but (Minnesota) Moorhead is close. We are going to schedule an official visit,” Emmeck said.
“My top three are South Dakota State University, Minnesota-Moorhead and Northern State,” he added.
Emmeck reported a 5.2-second 40-yard dash, 4.6-second pro-agility, 26.5-inch vertical jump and 96-inch broad jump.
-“Most of my interest is now in the NSIC (Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference) teams and some others,” said Pepin tight end/defensive end
Jordan Haake (6-2, 185).
“I went to camps this summer at Winona State and Minnesota-Moorhead, and now I've been to games at (UW)-Eau Claire, Southwest Minnesota State and (Minnesota)-Mankato, and am going to a Minnesota-Duluth game. There are other teams that I have interest in that I just can't make it to, but I can make visits after my season too,” Haake explained.
“It seems like there is a lot of interest, but no offers yet. It's hard to tell what coaches are thinking, but it seems like things are going well.”
Through seven games this season, Haake has 24 receptions for 347 yards and seven touchdowns on offense and 32 solo tackles, 24 assisted tackles, 11 sacks, five forced fumbles, two quarterback hits/forced interceptions and one punt block on defense.
Haake was an
Eau Claire Leader-Telegram honorable-mention all-area and first-team all-conference selection as a junior last season.
Haake reported a 4.8-second 40-yard dash, 4.66-second shuttle, 111-inch broad jump, 30-inch vertical jump, 240-pound bench press and 430-pound squat.
-Monona Grove quarterback
Aaron Kondrasuk (6-0, 200) is the type of overall athlete and just all-around good person that colleges love to recruit.
A 4.0 GPA student, National Honor Society member, High Honor Roll member and Academic Excellence award winner, Kondrasuk has also worked as a volunteer at numerous youth camps.
Kondrasuk is a three-year letter winner, two-time captain, three-time team Most Valuable Player and state qualifier in tennis for the Silver Eagles. He was also the Defensive Player of the Year on Monona Grove's basketball team as a junior. Add to that his two-year starter and honorable-mention all-conference honors in football as a junior.
According to Kondrasuk, a number of colleges have taken notice of those athletic skills.
“I've receiver letters and calls from many schools,” he said. “I recently received a letter from Wisconsin, which is my favorite right now, and am hoping for a preferred walk-on. I've also been looking at and received interest from Minnesota-Duluth, Winona State, Western Michigan, North Dakota State and a few others.”
