Less than two weeks away from the beginning of the 2010 track and field season we are already seeing outstanding times and marks from many athletes. Among the top pre-season boys list you will see many familiar faces and some newcomers to the honor roll spotlight:

In the sprints:

Berevon Wyatt a member of the 2009 State Champion 400M Relay team from Milwaukee Vincent fills the shoes of former teammate Centrell Minter the former state champion in the 100 and 200, posting the third best time in the 55M and the top time in the 200M dash with a blazing 22.97 indoors.

Last years bronze medalist in the 400 at the state meet Gabe Genovesi (12, Homestead) has posted the top time in the 400M so far this year finishing in 52.85 in the USATF WI Assosiation Championships.

Calling all Track Coaches - we need your schedules and rosters

by Nicholas Kartos, 2/14/2010

First and foremost a big thank you to all the coaches that we got a chance to chat with at the WisTCA clinic this past weekend.

We of course need your help to keep expanding our track site and making it the best not only in our state but nationwide.  We ask several things, first and foremost the sooner you can get us your schedules and rosters the sooner we can get them inputted on our site.

This gives us the baseline of information that we need to hit the ground running in the beginning of the year with inputting results for the honor rolls.

Also, please contact us if you want an account to link to your results as well as add your top performances to our honor rolls database.

Introducing The Final Lap with Chad Gunnelson

by Nicholas Kartos, 2/14/2010

Wisconsin Sports Network, the state's most popular high school sports website, announced today that Chad Gunnelson will be joining the staff as their new track and field expert and contributing writer.

Gunnelson has been involved in track and field in Wisconsin for the past 13 years. The last 5 of those years serving as the head coach at Madison East High School. The Purgolders track program saw immediate improvements under the direction of Gunnelson and a new staff. In his second year as head coach, East qualified 25 athletes for sectionals and 9 athletes for state placing two of those athletes on the podium.  This after East sent only 1 athlete to sectionals just 2 years earlier. During his tenure, East saw 4 school records fall, 2 on the boys and side and 2 on the girls. Gunnelson has coached 10 school record holders, 23 state qualifiers, and multiple conference and city champions.

Outside of track and field, Gunnelson is the owner of Athletic Republic, a science-based sports performance training facility in the Madison area that helps improve the confidence and ability of youth through professional athletes competing in a wide range of sports.

He also coaches football in Madison serving as the offensive coordinator and defensive backs coach for Madison Memorial High School.

"Our track site has grown by leaps and bounds over the past few seasons and adding a dedicated writer was one of our plans to expand our content this spring," said Nicholas Kartos, President and Founder of WSN. "In addition to results and honor rolls on our site we'll be able to take promotion and exposure of our great track student-athletes in the state to the next level."

Make sure you check back for weekly performance updates, athletes of the week, special interest stories, coverage of track and field throughout the state and much more.
