WBCA announces Division 4 Girls Basketball All-State Team

Lexi Donarski of Aquinas and Teryn Karlstad of Regis highlight the Division 4 WBCA all-state team as unanimous selections. 

Donarski, Emily Annis of Durand and and Shemera Williams of Milwaukee Academy of Science are repeat selections. 

Donarski is a three-time first-team all-state pick. The junior and Iowa State recruit led the Blugolds to their second straight Division 4 state title. She averaged 23.2 points, 5.8 assists and 3.4 steals per game for coach and father Dave Donarski. Aquinas finished the year with a 27-1 record. 

Karlstad led Regis to a 18-6 record, averaging 21 points and 15.2 rebounds per game for coach Patrick Boughton and the Ramblers. She is committed to NCAA Division III University of St. Thomas in Minneapolis. 

Annis, a two-time first-team all-state pick, led Durand to a 21-3 record and sectional appearance before falling to state runner-up Melrose-Mindoro. The senior averaged 14.4 points, 4.3 rebounds, 4 assists and 2.6 steals per game for coach Darrin Loewenhagen and the Panthers. 

Williams, a three-time first-team all-state selection, led the Novas to two state tournament appearances, including this season. The senior and Marquette recruit averaged a state-high 32.5 points per game, to go along with 10.3 rebounds, 8.5 assists and 4.5 steals per game for coach Giovanni Riley and the Novas. Milwaukee Academy of Science finished the year with a 19-6 record; fell to state champion Aquinas in a state semifinal. Williams finishes her career second all-time on the state's scoring list with 3,120, just 109 points behind South Shore grad Megan Gustafson's all-time mark of 3,229. 

Courtney Becker helped Aquinas capture its second consecutive Division 4 state title and 27-1 record this season. The junior and Drake recruit averaged 14.8 points, 8.1 rebounds and 3.5 steals per game for coach Dave Donarski and the Blugolds. 

Mesa Byom, an honorable mention all-state pick last season, helped Melrose-Mindoro (26-2) finish as the state runner-up for the second consecutive season. The junior and South Dakota State recruit averaged 13.2 points, 8.8 rebounds and 2.5 blocks per contest for coach Joey Arneson and the Mustangs. 

Alexandra Dornfeld led Markesan to a 20-4 record and sectional appearance. The senior and Winona State recruit averaged 15.4 points, 8.9 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.6 steals per game for coach Skip Laper and the Hornets. 

Kylie Schmidt led Mishicot to a 23-2 record and sectional appearance. The sophomore averaged 16.6 points, 8.5 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 2.3 steals per game for coach Mike Garceau and the Indians. 

Erika Simmons, an honorable mention all-state choice last season, helped the Mustangs to a 26-2 record and second straight state runner-up finish. The senior and UW-Whitewater recruit averaged 12.4 points, 8.2 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.9 steals per game for coach Joey Arneson and Melrose-Mindoro. 

Caroline Strande led Racine Lutheran to a 21-3 record and regional final appearance before falling to Milwaukee Academy of Science. The junior and Bradley recruit averaged 29.4 points, 10.2 rebounds, 6.5 assists and 4.8 steals per game for coach Steve Shaffer and the Crusaders.
