David Skogman

As the state's top unsigned class of 2019 prospect, Waukesha West's David Skogman most certainly drew attention this season from collegiate coaches at the NCAA Division I level.

Skogman is a 6-foot-10 forward/center who moves well, is highly skilled and largely flew under the recruiting radar last summer due to health issues. But word got out fast in the fall that he was back playing and thus college coaches repeatedly found their way to the Waukesha West gymnasium to check out one of the midwest's hottest prospects.

The fact Skogman went out and turned in a very good senior season, averaging 18.3 points, 12.7 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 3.2 blocks, had more and more college coaches trekking to Waukesha as the season progressed.

Due to his stellar senior season, Skogman has been selected as the top senior Post as part of the WSN Senior Basketball Awards.

After recently picking up scholarship offers from both Minnesota and Nebraska of the Big Ten Conference, Skogman plans to wait a few weeks to let things settle down a bit following the Wolverines' 22-4 season. He then hopes to take a visit or two before making a final decision on his collegiate destination.

The University of Wisconsin remains in the mix for Skogman, though the Badgers coaching staff has yet to extend an offer.

A first-team all-Classic Eight Conference performer, Skogman helped the Wolverines to the league title under coach Don LaValle with his dominating play around the basket.

Only an overtime loss to West Allis Central in a WIAA Division 1 sectional final prevented Waukesha West from playing in this weekend's state tournament at the Kohl Center in Madison. Skogman completed his three-year varsity career with more than 1,000 points.
