WBCA announces Division 3 Boys Basketball All-State Team

Marcus Domask of Waupun and Trequan Carrington of Martin Luther are the lone unanimous selections on the 2019 Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association Division 3 All-State Team. Domask, also the Mr. Basketball choice, is the only returning pick.

Domask joins rare company as a four-time WBCA All-State choice. The 2019 Mr. Basketball selection was a big part of the Warriors’ state title as a freshman and runner-up finish as a senior, averaging 26.1 points, 10.0 rebounds, and 5.7 assists per game in his final season for head coach and father Dan Domask. His 2,307 career points are 12th all-time.

Carrington set a new Division 3 state tournament record with 41 points in a state semi-final win over Northwestern in helping the Spartans to a championship. The lightning-fast senior guard averaged 20.1 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 4.4 assists per game for head coach Paul Wollersheim.

Alex Antetokounmpo continues to show improvement in his game, increasing his scoring output to 19.2 points per game as a junior. He also added 8.2 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 2.0 blocks, and 1.7 steals per game as the Knights finished 17-8.

Aidan Clarey of Brookfield Academy has put up big numbers in his first three years on varsity, helping the Blue Knights to a 20-6 record this year. In the process he averaged 19.8 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 2.9 assists per game as a junior.

Ace Evans of Martin Luther had 21 points in the state semi-finals and 20 in the championship game to help the Spartans to a Division 3 title. The smooth left-handed wing player shot better than 60% from the field and 78% from the free throw line this year while adding 4.1 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game.

Mayson Hazaert of Wrightstown led the Tigers to a share of the very competitive North Eastern Conference championship as a senior. The league’s Player of the Year, averaged 24.3 points, 7.6 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game as the team advanced to sectional play.

Tyrese Hunter of Racine St. Catherine’s helped the Angels tie for the Metro Classic Conference title with Martin Luther. A 6’0” sophomore guard, Hunter averaged 14.8 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 4.1 assists per game for St. Cat’s.

Xzavier Jones of Martin Luther was a very well-rounded player for the state champion Spartans. An elite defender who can guard one through five, he is a terror on the boards, averaging 7.2 rebounds per game in his career. The 6’5” senior averaged 11 points and three rebounds per game as well. 

Parker Nielsen of Prescott was an important part of the Cardinals’ state championship last year and became the go-to player for the team this season as it tied for the Middle Border Conference title. He picked up his scoring, averaging 25.6 points per game.

Nick Otto of Xavier helped the Hawks to an outright Bay Conference title and 19-5 overall record this season. An excellent marksman from behind the three-point line, Otto made a combined 140 long-range shots the last two years. He averaged 20.5 points and 11.2 rebounds per game as a senior.

Brandin Podziemski of St. John’s Northwest Military Academy led the Lancers to a perfect record in the Midwest Classic Conference and a 22-2 record this season. The 6’4” sophomore was one of the more prolific offensive players in the state, averaging 22.5 points per game to go with 9.3 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 2.9 steals per game as the league Player of the Year.

Pat Suemnick of Denmark is an impressive interior player capable of playing on the perimeter as well for the Vikings, who qualified for the Division 3 state tournament. The 6’8” senior averaged 18.4 points, 10.4 rebounds, and 2.9 blocks per game as Denmark shared the North Eastern Conference crown.
