WSN Girls All-State Summer Shootout Preview

The first annual WSN Girls All-State Summer Shootout will be held on Saturday, June 15 at Beaver Dam High School.

There are 16 teams competing in the event with four pools of four teams. For the schedule and general information for the event, click here

Admission for the tournament is $5 per day, with children 13 and under as well as college coaches free.

Pool A

La Crosse Central posted an 12-11 record in 2018-19, including a third-place finish in the Mississippi Valley. Coach Quartell Roberson and the Red Raiders welcome back three of their top five scorers in Ava Parcher (2021), Rachel Peterson (2020) and Whitney Mislivecek (2021). 

Laconia finished as the Division 3 state runner-up in 2018-19, finishing the year with a 27-1 record. Coach Chris Morgan will have a revamped roster in 2019-20 as the Spartans will need to replace their top three scorers. Top returners are Haley Rens (2021) and Harper Wurtz (2020). Another notable returner is Lexy Smit (2021). 

Rhinelander went 18-6 in 2018-19, including capturing the Great Northern title with an undefeated record. Coach Ryan Clark and the Hodags return four of their top six scorers, including leading scorer Kenedy Van Zile (2020) who averaged 24.6 points per game. Other key returners include Rebecca Lawrence (2021), Cynthia Beavers (2020) and Marissa Martin (2021). 

Verona posted a 14-9 record, including finishing fifth in the Big Eight with an 11-7 record. Coach Angie Murphy and the Wildcats welcome back three of their top four scorers, led by Division I prospect Aaliyah Smith (2022), who averaged 20 points per game as a freshman and already holds an offer from Minnesota. Other top returners are 2020's Rayna Briggs and Rachel Parman. 

Pool B

Dodgeville went 9-14 overall and finished fifth in the SWC. Coach Josh Busch and the Dodgers welcome back all of their key players, highlighted by Olivia Argall (2021) who averaged 17.4 points per game as a sophomore. Other key returners include Jojo Heimerl (2021), Grace Borne (2020), AJ Phillips (2021) and Amanda Ludwig (2020). 

Northwestern posted a 17-6 record, including finishing third in the Heart O'North with a 10-4 record. Coach Paul Eberhardt and the Tigers return four of their top six scorers, which include Brooke Ogren (2020), Kennedy Nelson (2020), Karsyn Jones (2020), Jayda Klobucher (2020).  

Waupun went 18-7 overall and finished second in the East Central with a 10-4 record. Coach Tim Aalsma and the Warriors welcome back three of their top five scorers, led by Abbie Aalsma (2022) who averaged 20.6 points per game and holds an NCAA Division I offer from Illinois State. Other notable returners are Peyton McGinnis (2020) and Naomi Aalsma (2022). 

Xavier went 7-15 overall and 4-10 in the Bay last season. Coach BJ Buss and the Hawks return four of their top five scorers, led by Delaney Feldkamp (2022) and Bel Bovee (2021). Other notable returners are Izzy Ballard (2021) and Becca Feldkamp (2021). 

Pool C

Clintonville posted an 8-16 overall record, including going 6-12 in the North Eastern. Coach Nick Yaeger and the Truckers return all of their top players, with 2020's Erin Viergutz and Elly Arndt highlighting the squad. Other key returners include Lizzy Weatherwax (2020), Lindsy Carpenter (2020) and Abby King (2020). 

Columbus went 4-18 overall and 2-8 in the Capitol-North in 2018-19. Coach Tim Dworak and the Cardinals welcome back four of their top five scorers, led by Jordan Link (2021). Other key returners include Emma Paulson (2022), Molly Kahl (2021) and Ashley Olson (2021). 

Kenosha St. Joseph posted a 6-17 overall record, including going 4-12 in the Metro Classic. Coach Jason Coker and the Lancers return three of their top five scorers, highlighted by Katie Matrise (2020) who averaged 22.2 points per game as a junior. Other key returners include Elizabeth Alia (2020) and Sarah Ryan (2022). 

Winnebago Lutheran went 17-6 overall and 10-2 in the Flyway, which was won by Laconia (2018-19 D3 state runner-up). Coach Eric Schraufnagel and the Vikings welcome back all of their key players. Top returners include 2021's Geneva Hewitt and Kaylee Frey who each averaged 12 points per game as sophomores. Other notable returners include Alyssa Lorenz (2020) and Rylee Loehr (2021). The Vikings were without standout Alayna Suprenand (2021) for the majority of last season and she is still recovering from injury. She averaged 16 points per game in six games played in 2018-19. 

Pool D

Argyle went 19-6 overall and finished second in the Six Rivers-East, behind D5 state champion Black Hawk. Coach Nicole Allison and the Orioles will have many new faces after the graduation of three of their top four scorers. The Orioles top returner is Victoria Lantz (2022). Other notable returners include McKenzee Granberg (2020) and Leah Flanagan (2020). 

Assumption posted a 20-6 overall record and finished third in the Marawood-South (12-4). Coach Ryan Klein and the Royals welcome back four of their top five scorers, led by Madalyn Bohn (2020) who averaged 15.8 points per game as a junior. Other key players include Jessie Grundhoffer (2021), Emily Bohn (2021) and Natalie Weisenbeck (2020). 

Loyal finished the 2018-19 season with a 15-9 record, including going 10-6 in the Cloverbelt-East. Coach Mike Rueth and the Greyhounds graduated three of their top five scorers, but do welcome back leading scorer Remi Geiger (2020) who averaged 15.3 points per game as a junior. Other key returners include Savannah Schley (2021), Kayla Bremmer (2021) and Katlyn Lindner (2021). 

Rio went 18-7 overall and 8-6 in the Trailways-West in 2018-19. Coach Deb Hutzler and the Vikings return three of their top five scorers, led by Adeline Hutzler (2021). Other top returners include McKenzie Sampson (2020) and Sarah Hagenow (2021).
