Eau Claire North's Sam Stange selected as top senior Outfielder

Eau Claire North's Sam Stange has been selected as the top senior Outfielder as part of the WSN Senior Baseball Awards.

What a dream season and ending it was for Stange. He was name the WBCA Division 1 Player of the Year, helped the Huskies to a Division 1 state title, and hit the go-ahead three-run home run in the championship game with two outs and two men on base.

An outstanding multi-sport athlete, Stange was the Player of the Year in the Big Rivers Conference this season and also the state Player of the Year in hockey.

Helping the Huskies to the state tournament, he hit over .500 this year with 6 home runs, 39 RBI, 32 runs scored, a total of 24 extra-base hits, and an OPS north of 1.500. He was also the team's top pitcher, going 7-1 on the mound. In three games at the state tournament he had a total of nine RBI.

Finalists for the award were Stange, Jack Krumbach of Madison Memorial, Tanner Peterson of Wilmot, Joe Rebholz of Oshkosh West, and Miller Wallace of Oconomowoc.

Past winners of the award include Kenosha Bradford's Nate Mikolas (2012), Madison West's Alex Brown (2013), Holmen's Jeren Kendall (2014), Athens' Shane Coker (2015), Milwaukee Lutheran's Nick Winter (2016), Wausau West's Peyton Nelson (2017), and Beloit Turner's Mitchell Seager (2018).
