Girls WBCA All-Star Games: South wins three of five games

The 42nd annual Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association Girls' All-Star Games were held in Wisconsin Dells on Friday, June 14 at JustAgame Fieldhouse. 

South won three of the five girls' WBCA All-Star games. 

Division 1: South 90, North 85

The South squad outscored the North 53-37 in the second half to earn the 90-85 victory in the final game of the day. Six players reached double-figures for the South, led by Badger's Jada Moss and Maddie Gard (Indiana University South Bend recruit), who finished with 15 and 14 points, respectively. Leading the way for the North were Kimberly's Shea Dechant (Winona State recruit) and Wausau West's Maddie Schires (Youngstown State recruit), who tallied 22 and 17 points, respectively. 

Division 2: South 88, North 69

The South All-Stars led 42-35 at the break and went on to defeat the North All-Stars, 88-69. Whitefish Bay's Ellie Clements led the South with 21 points, including going 10-for-10 from the free throw line. Monroe's Sydney Hilliard, a Wisconsin recruit, added 17 points for the South. The North All-Stars got a team-high 19 points from Beaver Dam's Tara Stauffacher, a Wisconsin recruit. Luxemburg-Casco's Cassie Schiltz, a Green Bay recruit, added 13 points for the North. 

Division 3: North 84, South 70

The North All-Stars led 16-8 after the first quarter and earned a 84-70 win. Four players reached double-figures for the North, led by G-E-T's Lexi Wagner, a Youngstown State recruit, who finished with 19 points. Amery's Madelyn Granica (Univ. of Minnesota Duluth recruit) and Hayward's Emily Neff (4-for-4 on 3-pointers) each added 14 points. The South squad was led by Martin Luther's Bonnie Jensen (Ripon College recruit), who netted a team-high 16 points. 

Division 4: North 72, South 66

The North All-Stars outscored the South All-Stars 23-15 in the fourth quarter to earn the 72-66 victory. Four players scored in double-figures for the North, led Melrose-Mindoro's Erika Simmons (UW-Whitewater recruit), who tallied 12 points. Regis' Teryn Karlstad (Univ. of St. Thomas recruit) added 10 points and 15 rebounds for the North. Belleville's Rachael Heittola (Bemidji State recruit) and Markesan's Alexandra Dornfeld (Winona State recruit) each posted double-doubles. Heittola finished with 16 points and 14 rebounds and Dornfeld tallied 15 points and 10 rebounds. 

Division 5: South 74, North 62

The South All-Stars led by two at halftime and went on to defeat the South All-Stars, 74-62, in the opening game of the girls' all-star gams on Saturday. Rio's Jordyn Hutzler netted a game-high 16 points for the South. Owen-Withee's Jen Wender, a Youngstown State recruit, led the North with 15 points.
