Thirty-two teams took part in the annual Wisconsin Basketball Yearbook Tournament held July 12-13-14 in Plymouth.

Following are some observations from the event:

Adam Diedrich

Five Breakout Performers

Adam Diedrich, 6-2, Sr., G, Hilbert

Although he missed Hilbert's two games on Saturday due to a baseball conflict, Diedrich more than made up for his absence with two outstanding performances on Sunday while helping the Wolves to victories over Catholic Central and Plymouth II. A returning first-team all-league performer in the Big East Conference, Diedrich erupted for 34 points and had 13 free-throw attempts in Hilbert's 58-50 triumph over Catholic Central. He was able to get to the basket going left or right while also draining several three-point shots. Diedrich's quickness and overall skill package make him a tough cover for any opponent as he proved last winter when he averaged 17.0 points, 5.3 rebounds and 2.6 assists while helping Hilbert to a 17-7 record. Look for Diedrich to thrive under new coach Tanner Schieve this winter as the Wolves set out to capture the title in the Big East North Division.

Alex King

Alex King, 6-4, Sr., G, Neillsville
After averaging 21.8 points per game as a junior, King enjoys a very good reputation among the coaches in the Eastern Cloverbelt Conference. After his showing in Plymouth, his reputation with others around the state is beginning to expand, and in a good way. A very skilled, fast and long lead guard, King can rip down rebounds, lead the fast break, shoot from the perimeter, deliver the ball to open teammates and score off the dribble. He plays with an even demeanor and competes at a high level, traits that will serve him well at the next level. King is receiving recruiting interest from several NCAA Division II programs, including Bemidji State, Minnesota-Moorhead and Minot State, among others. Once he adds weight and strength to his frame, he's going to be even more of a handful to cover for opponents.

Cam Jaeger

Cam Jaeger, 6-3, Sr., G, Oostburg
Versatility is the name of the game for Jaeger as he's able to affect the game in a number of different areas. An athletic and active wing prospect, Jaeger can beat defenders off the dribble, rise up in the lane to shoot over taller defenders, and make shots from outside the three-point arc. The returning first-team all-Big East Conference performer averaged 17.3 points and 4.8 rebounds as a junior while shooting a very proficient 50 percent from the field, 86 percent from the foul line and 43 percent (66 of 153) from three-point range. Several NCAA Division III coaches traveled to Plymouth to watch Jaeger and they did not go away disappointed.

Connor Spielvogel

Connor Spielvogel, 6-3, Sr., WG, Sheboygan Falls
Leave the sweet-shooting Spielvogel open at your own peril. The lefty wing guard will drill one three-point shot after another if left open so opponents must constantly account for his presence on the court. Spielvogel finished with 15 made three-point shots in four games at the Plymouth Tournament while helping the Falcons to a 2-2 record. He averaged 11.5 points per game as a junior for a very balanced Sheboygan Falls squad and joins Jonah TenPas (6-0), Jamison Nickolai (6-2) and Jon Basseuner (6-2) as key returning players for a Sheboygan Falls squad many expect to challenge for the championship in the Eastern Wisconsin Conference.

Carson Baker, 5-8, Soph., G, Fort Atkinson
A fundamentally sound and extremely skilled left-handed guard, Baker was on fire from deep during the Blackhawks' stay in Plymouth. He drilled nine three-point baskets and scored 31 points in a win over Sheboygan North, and also had 25 points and seven triples in a win over South Milwaukee. You absolutely must respect the amount of time and effort Baker has put into becoming such a terrific shooter despite his size limitations. Baker led Fort Atkinson in scoring as a freshman by averaging 9.1 points per game. In the five games Fort Atkinson played in Plymouth, Baker averaged 17.2 ppg. He teams with sophomore Cade Cosson (5-10) and junior Greyson Wixom (6-0) to give coach Mike Hintz a solid nucleus at Fort Atkinson the next several seasons.
