Observations from the inaugural WisSports.net Northern Exposure Classic held Saturday at D.C. Everest High School:

Top Performers

Remi Geiger, 5-4, Sr., PG, Loyal
Geiger enters her senior year as a three-year starter at point guard for coach Mike Rueth and the Greyhounds. She helped Loyal capture the Division 5 state title as a freshman and has been the Greyhounds' go-to player the past two seasons. Remi is poised to make another step forward in scoring this season after posting just over 15 points per contest as a junior. Geiger averaged 20 points per game in the wins over Clintonville, Gibraltar and Oneida Nation on Saturday.

Kameri Meredith, 5-8, Sr., W, Colfax
Meredith has helped the Vikings reach WIAA Division 4 sectional play in each of her first three seasons, including losses to Melrose-Mindoro in sectional finals the past two years. Kameri does a little bit of everything for Vikings, as a junior she averaged 13.4 points, 7.8 rebounds, 3 assists and 1.7 steals per contest for coach WBCA Hall of Fame coach Joe Doucette. Meredith averaged just over 15 points per game in wins over Oconto Falls, Lakeland and Neillsville on Saturday.

Maddy Near, 5-11, Jr., F, Howards Grove
Near played a key role in helping the Tigers reach a WIAA sectional final as a sophomore before falling to Milwaukee Academy of Science. She averaged 11 points, 7.1 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 2.1 steals per contest for coach Heidi Georgeff and the Tigers last season. Near used her size and strength to cause problems for their opponents on Saturday, and averaged just over 12 points per game in wins over Oconto Falls, Neillsville and Lakeland.

Julianna Ouimette, 5-9, Frosh., G, Lakeland
She hasn't played a high school game yet, but Julianna proved on Saturday that she will be an impact player right away at Lakeland. She is the daughter of WBCA Hall of Fame player Melissa Ouimette, a former D.C. Everest standout, who played one year for Pat Summitt at Tennessee before finishing her career at Northwestern. Julianna missed her eighth grade year with an ACL injury and much of this summer recovering, but showcased her abilities on Saturday, and averaged 12.6 points per game in the three games.

Chloe Van Zeeland, 6-1, Jr., F, Kaukauna
Van Zeeland already holds a number of Division I offers, including Milwaukee, so it's no surprise that she received a lot of attention from opposing teams on Saturday. As a junior, Chloe averaged 14.7 points, 8.4 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 3.2 steals and 1.8 blocks per game for coach Craig Hawley and the Galloping Ghosts. Van Zeeland was strong on both ends of the floor on Saturday, she didn't need to score much as they had a couple blowout wins.

Kenedy Van Zile, 5-6, Sr., PG, Rhinelander
Van Zile is coming off an impressive junior campaign in which she averaged 24.6 points per game for coach Ryan Clark and the Hodags. On Saturday, she showcased her playmaking ability and shot well from behind the arc. Kenedy averaged 16.6 points per game in the three games, and posted 14 points in a 43-35 loss to a strong Kaukauna squad. Van Zile enters her senior year with over 1,100 points.
