As part of the weekly preview I produce every Thursday showcasing the best games from around the state, I always highlight one contest as the Game of the Week. To expand on that, each week I'll post a poll where you -- the fans -- can vote for who you think will win the Game of the Week.

Marquette (Preseason D1 #6) at Muskego (Preseason D1 #1) at -- Thursday, 7 pm

The 2019 high school football season opens with a bang, with a titanic Thursday night non-conference matchup between the defending league champions from two of the best conferences in the state. And, oh by the way, they just happened to meet up in a thrilling Division 1 state semi-final contest last year. Marquette, the champion of the Greater Metro Conference, and Muskego, the league champ in the Classic Eight, were unbeaten heading into a Level 4 game last year at Arrowhead High School. The game lived up to the billing, as the teams went back-and-forth for much of the night. Marquette held a tenuous 14-10 lead heading into the fourth quarter, but Muskego got a pair of touchdowns to go up by two scores, and while Marquette put another touchdown across, it wasn't quite enough. Muskego, who returns nine offensive starters and five on defense, enters the year ranked #1 in the WSN Rankings, while a strong Marquette squad with five players holding D1 offers is sixth.
