As part of the weekly preview I produce every Thursday showcasing the best games from around the state, I always highlight one contest as the Game of the Week. To expand on that, each week I'll post a poll where you -- the fans -- can vote for who you think will win the Game of the Week.
Martin Luther (3-0, 1-0; D4 #3) at Racine Lutheran (3-0, 1-0; D6 #2), at Horlick Field – Thursday, 7 pm
Last year Martin Luther hammered Racine Lutheran, with Darios Crawley-Reid rushing for 125 yards while Nik Muller threw for 240 and three touchdowns. A caveat to that game was an early injury to Racine Lutheran's Tyler Tenner, which limited him to just two carries and 11 yards. Both teams would have great success down the road, as Racine Lutheran finished as the runner-up in Division 6 while Martin Luther advanced to the quarterfinals in Division 4. Crawley-Reid has graduated at Martin Luther, but quarterback Brady Hoppert has taken control of the offense, throwing for 689 yards and nine touchdowns. Tyler Tenner is healthy this year, and the RaLu offense is grooving, averaging more than 50 points per game. Tenner is averaging 214 yards per game and remains on a path to break the state's all-time rushing record. Four teams from the Metro Classic Conference (these two plus Kenosha St. Joseph and Racine St. Catherine's) enter this week at 3-0 overall, and it is likely whoever wins the league will be unbeaten, so this is a huge showdown with conference and seeding implications on the line.
