Brady Olson

Players from all over the state of Wisconsin took part in Sunday's annual Wisconsin Sports Network Showcase held at Kettle Moraine High School.

For the results and standings plus the All-Showcase and All-Hustle Teams as voted on by the coaches, please see here.

More than 170 boys' basketball players participated in the event, which featured some of Wisconsin's top players in the classes of 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023.

Following are a few observations on some of Sunday's standout performers:

Mark Miller All-Showcase Team

Brady Olson, 6-0, PG, Class of 2020, Cuba City

A point guard in every sense of the word, Olson showed tremendous leadership skills for his team while also handling the ball against pressure, delivering passes to teammates and making shots, both off the dribble and from the perimeter. He is one of the better on-court communicators in the state and, now as a senior, has taken the role of being in charge to a new level. As a junior, Olson averaged 16.8 points, 8.8 rebounds and 6.2 assists to lead Cuba City in all three categories. Veteran Cuba City coach Jerry Petitgoue has called Olson "one of the best guards he has ever coached."

Gerald Gittens

Gerald Gittens, 6-0, PG, Class of 2020, St. John's Military Academy
If there is a stronger point guard that Gittens in the senior class in Wisconsin, I have yet to see him. He simply overpowers opponents off the dribble with his physical strength and ball handling skills. He can get to the basket pretty much any time he wants, but he also possesses a solid perimeter jump shot. Moreover, Gittens is a very unselfish player who looks to get his teammates involved on every possession. The Brooklyn, N.Y., native averaged 15.8 points and 6.5 assists as a junior at St. John's Military and provides stellar leadership for one of the state's top teams.

Dustin Beauprey

Dustin Beauprey, 6-2, G, Class of 2021, Mountain Top Christian
Don't let the size of the school fool you. This kid can play. Even though Mountain Top Christian is not a member of the WIAA and its enrollment is under 100 students in grade K-12, Beauprey more than held his own on Sunday while playing against some of the top competition in the state. The physically strong and aggressive backcourt performer has good size, excellent strength, good skills and the ability to get to the basket. He scored at a high level, was a willing passer and showed the ability to make perimeter shots. As a sophomore at Mountain Top Christian, which competes in the Indian Trails Blue Division, Beauprey averaged 37.9 points, 20.1 rebounds and 5.2 assists. While those numbers obviously are inflated due to the competition level he faces throughout the season, Beauprey nonetheless proved worthy on Sunday of his No. 28 ranking in the WisSports.net Player Rankings for the class of 2021.

Isaiah Stewart

Isaiah Stewart, 6-0, G, Class of 2020, Madison La Follette
A true basketball gym rat, Stewart loves the game and works to improve at a truly high level. The results are obvious as he continues to make strides in his overall physical and mental development. His leadership skills were on display Sunday at Kettle Moraine as was his ability to score from the perimeter and off the bounce. Stewart has elevated his ability to find open teammates with his passing skills, and he appears to have added some weight and strength to his frame. He will play a vital role for a very good Madison La Follette squad this winter and is a player schools at the WIAC and NCAA Division II level will want to watch closely.

Jordan Johnson

Jordan Johnson, 6-0, G, Class of 2021, Elkhorn
Each time Johnson steps onto the court, he ready and rarin' to go. He attacks the basket, and then comes back and attacks it some more. In short, he is relentless with the ball in his hands and constantly probes the defense with the ball in his hands, looking for any openings. The fact he is skilled, shifty, quick and vertical makes him a tough cover. A key player on Elkhorn's WIAA Division 2 State Tournament squad a year ago, look for Johnson to blossom into one of the top players in the Southern Lakes Conference over the next two seasons.

MVP of 2019 WSN Showcase
Brady Olson, 6-0, PG, Class of 2020, Cuba City

Jonah Rindfleisch

Five Breakout Performers

Jonah Rindfleisch, 6-6, F, Class of 2021, Wisconsin Lutheran

Length is a big asset on the basketball floor and Rindfleisch definitely possesses an abundance of that quality. And the ever-improving junior puts it to good use, too. Whether he's making a pass, blocking or altering a shot, getting into the passing lanes or going up for a rebound, Rindfleisch's length comes into play on both ends of the court. Though still growing into his body and in need of some weight and physical strength, Rindfleisch started as a sophomore for coach Ryan Walz at Wisconsin Lutheran and appears to be poised to make a big impact for the Vikings the next two seasons.

Josh Crubaugh, 6-4, G/F, Class of 2021, New Berlin Eisenhower
Crubaugh came off the bench as a sophomore as New Berlin Eisenhower and averaged 6.2 points and 3.3 rebounds while helping coach Scott Witt's club to a 14-9 record. Chances are strong he won't be coming off the bench the next two seasons for the Lions. He was outstanding at Kettle Moraine, making shot after shot from distance while also moving well without the ball, grabbing more than his share of rebounds and helping his team move the ball on offense. Crubaugh has very good size and skill, and figures to team with classmates Sam Ludwig (6-1) and Tristan Obst (6-0) to form a strong nucleus at Eisenhower the next two seasons.

Bennett Wright

Bennett Wright, 5-11, PG, Class of 2020, Catholic Central
This one player who is absolutely serious about working on his game and getting better. Wright has developed into one of the better backcourt performers in the rugged Metro Classic Conference due in large part to his hard work over the past three seasons. Like others who performed well on Sunday, Wright is a gym rat who loves to get into Catholic Central -- he lives a block away from the school -- and get up shots. He has become a very good vocal lead guard who can score, but is best at setting up his teammates. After averaging 10.4 points per game as a junior for coach Kyle Scott, look for Wright and the Hilltoppers to be a tough out in 2019-20, particularly when they play in the WIAA Division 5 playoffs.

Joey Immekus, 6-2, G, Class of 2020, Martin Luther
Known primarily for his dead-eye shooting ability from beyond the three-point arc, Immekus showed improved strength and confidence in taking the ball to the basket on Sunday and the results most often were positive for his team. With good size, one of the top shooting touches in the state and an improved ability to get to the basket, Immekus is going to be a handful for oppnents in the Metro Classic Conference. As a junior, Immekus made 82 of 162 attempts from three-point range for an eye-popping 51 percent.

Derek Bedor

Derek Bedor, 6-6, F, Class of 2020, Shiocton
When you earn unanimous first-team all-league laurels as a junior, it's hard to earn a spot on the WSN Breakout Performer team. But since Bedor is off the beaten path at bit at Shiocton and plays in a lower-profile league in the Central Wisconsin East Conference, he more than qualifies for a spot on this team. Bedor was outstanding at Kettle Moraine, using his length, jumping ability and general activity to create havoc for opponents. Though on the slender side, Bedor nonetheless made a positive impact on both ends of the floor. He scored by slashing to the basket and on put backs while also defending well, using his size and length to grab rebounds and get into passing lanes. Bedor averaged 13 points and 7 rebounds as a junior for coach Chad Schmidt, and is one of five starters back from a club that went 18-6 a year ago.

Trey Zastrow

Top 5 Shooters

Trey Zastrow, 6-0, G, Class of 2020, Manitowoc Lutheran
Zastrow didn't shoot the ball as well as he would have liked, but he was still one of the top marksman from outside the arc among the 170-plus players at the WSN Showcase. The lefty guard is a two-time winner of the WIAA State Tournament Three-Point Challenge and he most definitely hit some big shots for his team at Kettle Moraine. Zastrow is coming off a junior season where he averaged 24.0 points per game. Moreover, he made an incredible 70 of 150 tries from beyond the three-point line for 47 percent. Zastrow enters his senior season with 1,418 career points while playing for his father, Gordy, at Manitowoc Lutheran.

Ashton Janowski, 6-1, G, Class of 2022, Pewaukee
One of the top skilled players in Pewaukee's talent-loaded program, Janowski showed some versatility on Sunday by handling the ball more and by getting the ball to his teammates. But his smooth jump shot was also around and he used it to perfection, sinking jumper after jumper from the perimeter. A very good three-point shooter who has grown a bit and added some strength to his frame, Janowski is one of the state's top class of 2022 prospects due to his remarkable accuracy shooting the basketball from the outside.

Jacquez Overstreet

Jacquez Overstreet, 6-3, G, Class of 2021, Oshkosh West
Overstreet isn't known primarily for his ability to knock down shots from outside the three-point line. But he lanky junior certainly did just that on Sunday, making shot after shot from deep. Overstreet has very good size and length, and he can also get to the basket. But his ability to make perimeter shots on a consistent basis would make him an even tougher cover for opponents. If he can do so, Overstreet would emerge as one of the better backcourt players in the ultra-tough Fox Valley Association.

James Monogue

James Monogue, 6-5, F, Class of 2020, Jefferson
Monogue has good size and physical strength for a wing forward and he often uses those assets to score in the paint. But his biggest strength, by far, is his ability to make shots facing the basket from the perimeter. And because he's 6-foot-5 and has some elevation on his jump shot, he is a tough player to guard since he simply shoots over most defenders. Monogue shot 51 percent from the floor for coach Greg Jefferies as a junior while averaging 17.2 points and 6.0 rebounds per contest.

Drew Fisher

Drew Fisher, 6-0, G, Class of 2020, Oconomowoc
Fisher turned in a very good overall showing at the WSN Showcase, and he also shot the ball well for his team. Fisher is one of the senior leaders for coach Jay Benish at Oconomowoc. As a junior, he averaged 10.1 points and 4.0 rebounds per game while helping his team to an 11-12 record. The honorable mention all-Classic Eight Conference performer shot just 29 percent from beyond the three-point arc as a junior, though he did make 10 of his last 25 (40 percent) triple attempts while helping Oconomowoc finish the campaign with wins in five of its last seven contests. If Fisher can continue to shoot the ball at that pace, Oconomowoc certainly will be a factor in the race for the Classic Eight Conference title this winter.

Top 5 Frontline Performers

Ryan Broeckel, 6-5, F, Class of 2020, Chilton

Possessing a strong frame and the ability to elevate for rebounds, Brockel was solid in most aspects of the game on Sunday. Though he struggled at times to finish, he nonetheless got to the rim often for his team. He also had a few games where he did finish at a high rate and coach Corey Behnke at Chilton is hoping that will be the case during the 2019-20 campaign. As a junior, Brockel averaged 16 points and 10 rebounds en route to earning first-team all-Eastern Wisconsin Conference honors.

Drew Biber

Drew Biber, 6-6, F, Class of 2021, Cedarburg
A very good athlete with the ability to finish off drives to the basket well above the rim, Biber also can step outside and make perimeter shots. But with his height and jumping ability, Biber is probably most effective at the high school level protecting the rim and snaring rebounds in the paint. As a sophomore at Cedarburg, Biber averaged 18.2 points and 6.5 rebounds. He has grown a couple of inches over the last several months, which should help him more than hold his own against other top frontline players in the North Shore Conference.

Kyle Krueger

Kyle Krueger, 6-4, F, Class of 2021, Ashwaubenon
Like most frontline prospects these days, Krueger is very versatile. While he can definitely positively affect a game in the lane, he can also step away from the basket and attack the hoop off the dribble or drop in perimeter shots. A second-team all-Fox River Classic Conference performer as a sophomore when he averaged 14.8 points and 8.0 rebounds, Krueger plays with a high motor and gets results due to his quickness, physical strength, height and determination.

Matt Waldera

Matt Waldera, 6-5, F, Class of 2021, Blair-Taylor
Waldera could certainly have earned a spot on the WSN Breakout Performer list, but we will list him here instead since he is a match-up problem for opponents due to his combination of size, skill and aggressiveness. Waldera most likely will play the small forward spot at the collegiate level, but for coach Randy Storlie at Blair-Taylor, Waldera's strengths will be utilized in the post as well as away from the hoop. Waldera's ball handling, shooting and passing skills are impressive as is his ability to rebound. As a sophomore, Waldera averaged 14.1 points and 8.7 rebounds while helping Blair-Taylor to a 24-2 record. Look for that type of success to continue for both Waldera and Blair-Taylor in 2019-20.

Justin Bahr

Justin Bahr, 7-1, C, Class of 2020, Bonduel
Bahr is every bit as tall as his listed height of 7-feet, 1-inch. And he is far from a skinny 7-foot-1 post player as well. But he is a project at this point in his development. He struggles a bit getting up and down the floor, but his effort is consistent. He can score in the post and can certainly block and alter some shots. He currently has a tough time rebounding out of his area, but there is no denying the fact he is 7-1 and can clog up the lane. Bahr is probably a few years away from making a contribution at the collegiate level, but he is the tallest player in the state and most likely the biggest, too, in terms of height and weight. He has shown in recent months the willingness to put in the time required to make strides in his game. If that continues over the next six months, that will mean good things for Bonduel and good things for Bahr's future.

Top 5 Young Players

Kolten Monroe, 6-6, F, Class of 2023, Milwaukee Bay View

Kolten Monroe is going to grow some more as his older brother, Kaden, is a 6-8 sophomore at Bay View. Kolten showed the ability to slash to the basket, make three-point shots, grab rebounds, run the floor and block some shots. Not bad for a young player who hasn't even played a minute of high school basketball. Monroe is part of a loaded freshmen class for coach Darryl Longley at Milwaukee Bay View. His versatility, size and skill already are intriguing.

Max Weisbrod, 6-0, PG, Class of 2022, DeForest
Weisbrod has taken large strides in his physical and skill development over the past 12 months and figures to rank among the elite guards in the Badger Conference over the next three seasons. The son of DeForest coach, Craig Weisbrod, Max ran the show for the team that ended up winning the WSN Showcase championship. He got his teammates involved, but he also scored himself, both off the dribble and from the perimeter.

Caden Feldhausen, 6-7, F, Class of 2022, Appleton East
A transfer to Appleton East from West De Pere, Feldhausen played with great determination and used his size and hustle to influence the game in positive ways. Though he has a ways to go yet in terms of consistent scoring and rebounding, particularly in a league as good as the Fox Valley Association, look for Feldhausen to continue to rank among the better class of 2022 prospects over the next several seasons due to his size and activity on the court.

Josh Terrian

Josh Terrian, 6-3, G, Class of 2022, Pewaukee
Terrian is a do-everything kind of player who may not be elite in any one aspect of the game, but is rock-solid in virtually all aspects of the game. He played big minutes as a freshman at Pewaukee and teams with classmate Ashton Janowski to give Pewaukee coach David Burkemper one of the state's top backcourt combinations for the next three seasons. Terrian has excellent size, a very good feel for the game, and stellar passing, ball handling and shooting skills. Just a very good all-around player who competes to win.

Top 5 Energy Players

Eian Baumann, 6-2, G, Class of 2021, Crivitz

The son of Crivitz coach Jeff Baumann, Eian Baumann made the long trek from up north to Kettle Moraine High School count as he was very vocal, very positive and very productive for his team on Sunday. As a sophomore, Baumann started and averaged 8.1 points and 2.2 rebounds for a Crivitz club that went 20-3 and won the Marinette & Oconto Conference title. As one of five returning starters for the Wolverines, Baumann and his teammates are hoping for even more success in 2019-20.

Cade Faber

Cade Faber, 6-1, G, Class of 2021, Abbotsford
Definitely a player on the rise, Faber's hustle and determination to play at a high level were evident on Sunday. Though he struggled at times to score, at other times he did find the bottom of the net. And his incredible jumping ability most definitely helped in terms of rebounding, and making things difficult for the opponent he was guarding. Faber is starting to understand what it takes to become a very good all-around player, and his development should help Abbotsford become more competitive under coach Dean Bellanti in the Marawood North Conference.

Michael Regnier, 6-2, WG, Class of 2021, Madison Edgewood
Regnier is a very good perimeter shooter who competes with tremendous energy and makes smart basketball plays on both ends of the floor. He willingness to defend, rebound and move the ball to his teammates on Sunday are assets not always found in a showcase setting. Regnier and classmate Sandro Jimenez form one of the premier backcourt combinations in the Badger South Conference and should help keep the Crusaders competitive in the competitive league the next two seasons.

Caleb Weichart

Caleb Weichart, 5-11, G, Class of 2020, Random Lake
No offense to Weichart or any others his size, but 5-foot-11 guards normally do not stand out on the basketball court, particularly in a showcase setting that includes more than 170 players. But Weichart turned the tables a bit on that line of thinking thanks to his all-out effort and hustle for his team. A returning starter for coach Tyler Mueller at Random Lake, Weichart averaged 8.5 points and 5.0 rebounds as a junior starter for the Rams. Those numbers don't necessarily stand out, either, but what does stand out is Weichart's approach to the game and his effort to make winning plays for his team.

Luke Healy, 6-1, G, Class of 2021, Hudson
When your hustle and determination match your overall ability, then you really have something. Such is the case with Luke Healy of Hudson. He is a very skilled, very smart and very good basketball player. What's more, he gives 110 percent effort between the lines. That's a winning combination and a big reason why Hudson is expected to contend for the title in the very good Big Rivers Conference this winter.
