Hilbert took down Cedar Grove-Belgium in a matchup of unbeaten Big East Conference heavyweights, shutting out the Rockets 19-0 on Friday. The defense was especially outstanding, limiting Cedar Grove-Belgium to 27 yards on 28 rushing attempts, and holding the passing game to 13-of-30 compeltions for just 105 yards and picking off the Rockets twice. Evan Lau had 18 tackles on defense, and added 73 rushing yards as well. Quarterback Dylan Dohr threw an interception on the only pass he attempted, but ran for 159 yards and three touchdowns on 12 carries.

Kettle Moraine had a rough start to the 2019 season, dropping the first two games before a nail-biting win over Oconomowoc. It wasn't necessarily a start that predicted big things to come, but the Lasers stayed the course and it paid off in a big way. Against D3 top-ranked and defending state champion Catholic Memorial, Kettle Moraine was out-gained 406 to 223, but made the plays they needed to pull off a shocking 13-11 victory. Chase Matyszczyk booted a pair of first half field goals and Jackson Holzhauer connected with Tommy Hoeft late in the third quarter on what proved to be the game-winning touchdown.

It was the first of what figures to be a few huge regular season matchups in the Metro Classic Conference, Racine Lutheran and Martin Luther played a whale of a game on Thursday night. It started out as a barn-burner, with D6 second-ranked Racine Lutheran going up 21-7 on D3 third-ranked Martin Luther after the first quarter. Things slowed down a bit, as the Crusaders retained a 21-14 lead until the fourth quarter. Martin Luther would tie the game, before Tyler Tenner went in from 31 yards out to go up a touchdown. Martin Luther would score with ten seconds remaining when Brady Hoppert found Aundreus Griffin from 17 yards out. The Spartans decided to go two and the win, but Hoppert's pass was out of reach of the receiver, and Racine Lutheran hung on for a 28-27 win. Tenner finished with 166 yards and two touchdowns on 27 carries.

River Ridge missed the playoffs last year but the Timberwolves are one of the surprise stories of the 2019 season so far. After knocking off perennial Six Rivers Conference contender Pecatonica/Argyle 14-0 on Friday, River Ridge is now 4-0. Cole Crubel threw for a touchdown and caught one, and the Timberwolves defense dug in when it needed to to maintain the shutout.

There are two remaining unbeaten teams in the Big Rivers Conference, and while it is not a surprise that Menomonie is one of them, to see Superior sitting at 4-0 overall and 2-0 in league play is unexpected. The Spartans have missed the playoffs the last two years, but stand a good shot this season, in part due to a 21-9 victory over previously unbeaten Eau Claire Memorial on Friday. Jarrett Gronski rushed for 150 yards and two scores, and Kaden Kimmes hit Brady Herbst for a touchdown. The defense bottled up the explosive Old Abes offense, limiting Memorial to just 144 yards of offense. Junior running back Loyal Crawford, who ran for 337 yards and five touchdowns in his previous game, had just 26 yards on seven carries.
