As part of the weekly preview I produce every Thursday showcasing the best games from around the state, I always highlight one contest as the Game of the Week. To expand on that, each week I'll post a poll where you -- the fans -- can vote for who you think will win the Game of the Week.

Rhinelander (4-0, 1-0; D3 #10) at Medford (4-0, 2-0; D3 #3) –  –  Friday, 7 pm

There may be matchups between teams ranked slightly higher or with more name recognition this week, but it is very rare that we have an opportunity to highlight a game in the Northwoods. In fact, this may be one of the biggest games in the Great Northern Conference in some time, and certainly the biggest game for Rhinelander in many, many years. The Hodags, who have just two playoff appearances in school history, are off to a 4-0 start with a string of victories that have showcase a stingy defense (allowing just 7.5 points per game) and a dynamic offense led by running back Drake Martin, who averages 164 yards per contest and has already found the end zone 13 times. As good as Rhinelander has looked in the early going, Medford has been even more impressive. In the first two weeks of the season, the Raiders shut out Big Rivers playoff teams Rice Lake and Chippewa Falls. They've since posted dominating conference wins against Lakeland and defending Great Northern Conference champion Ashland. Returning all-league running back Ean Wilson has been outstanding as expected, with Emett Grunwald chipping in nicely as well.
