WisSports.net Week 5 Player of the Week Nominees

Connor Leffler, Germantown

Germantown's Connor Leffler became the latest to join a rather exclusive club in Friday's 27-0 win over Sussex Hamilton. In the first quarter, Leffler caught a touchdown, in the second quarter he ran for a touchdown, and in the third he threw a touchdown. Leffler would finish with 113 rushing yards on 19 carries, adding two catches for 25 yards, while completing both pass attempts for 15 yards. Oh yeah, he also kicked three extra points for the Warhawks, who move to 3-2 on the season.

Tim Salmon, New Richmond

New Richmond took down defending conference champion Saint Croix Central 42-14 on Friday, a team that has been in the Division 4 state title game the last three seasons. It was an explosive offensive performance for the Tigers, who put up more than 200 yards through the air and on the ground. Quarterback Tim Salmon completed 17-of-23 passes for 233 yards and three touchdowns in the game, adding 21 yards and a score on the ground in the victory.

Jed Scallon, Ithaca

Ithaca sophomore Jed Scallon grew up playing on the offensive line in the Bulldogs' program. He was a guard last year as a freshman. Yet this year, head coach Chad Clary moved him to fullback, and he has responded in a big way. In a 24-14 win over two-time defending Ridge & Valley Conference champion Wauzeka-Steuben/Seneca, Scallon carried the ball 38 times for 205 yards and two touchdowns. It is the fourth, 200-yard game of the year already for the six-foot, 200-pound fullback.

Delnato Sheppard, Portage

Portage ended a 14-game Badger-North Conference losing streak on Friday, topping Beaver Dam 27-14. Delnato Sheppard was a workhorse for the Warriors, carrying the ball 41 times for 294 yards and three touchdowns. He got the team on the board in the first quarter on a three-yard scoring plunge, then put the Warriors ahead on a 13-yard score in the second quarter, before tacking on another touchdown run in the third quarter. The five-foot, eight-inch, 230-pounder has more than 900 rushing yards on the season.

Adam Siegel, New Berlin West

New Berlin West only attempted one pass on Friday, and it was intercepted, so the Vikings kept things on the ground to defeat Pewaukee 14-9. Adam Siegel had both touchdowns for West, going in from 16 yards out in the first quarter, adding a 93-yard scamper in the second quarter. He'd finish with 276 yards and two touchdowns on 32 carries. A two-way standout, Siegel also recorded 12 tackles on defense.
