Below are the PlayInTheDells.com Athlete of the Week Nominees for the week of September 16 through September 22. Voting is open until Thursday at 4pm, so be sure to vote for who you feel is most deserving and spread the word. Users may vote once per day.

Maria Venne, Eau Claire North girls volleyball: Maria helped lead the Eau Claire North Huskies to a perfect 4-0 record and first place finish at their home invite this past weekend. They swept all four matches over Thorp, Hayward, New Richmond, and Eau Claire Memorial. Maria had 30 kills, 13 digs, four aces, and two blocks throughout the day. Earlier in the week, Maria had 19 kills and 10 digs in a 3-1 non-conference win over Regis.

Paige Wicklund, Mosinee girls volleyball: Mosinee played three matches in the GNC Tournament this past weekend and won all three behind the strong play of Wicklund. Paige had 36 kills in the three matches, while also recording eight service aces. In a 3-2 GNC Conference win over Northland Pines earlier in the week, Paige had 22 kills to help lead the team to victory.

Elliot Bird, Black River Falls football: Elliot was phenomenal through the air and on the ground as Black River Falls picked up a 39-14 win over Nekoosa last Friday. He went 15 of 25 passing for 255 yards and two scores. Elliot added another 225 yards on the ground on 24 carries (9.4 yards per carry), including two more scores. On the night, Elliot accounted for an astounding 480 yards of offense.

Jakob Kidd, Superior boys soccer: Superior is off to an 8-0 start on the season, including a 3-0 week last week, and Kidd has been a huge contributor to the fact. In a 2-1 double overtime win over Duluth Marshall, Jakob scored both goals for the winning squad. He followed that up with two more goals in a 3-0 win over Cloquet. Jakob finished the week by securing a hat trick as Superior downed Grand Rapids 4-1.

Khristian Hoard, Homestead boys soccer: The Homestead boys soccer team has started the year off 9-0 and were ranked seventh in Division 1 last week in the Coaches Poll. Khristian has been a major cog in the wheel for the undefeated squad and showed why last week. In a 9-2 North Shore Conference win over Grafton, Khristian recorded a hat trick. He followed that up with one goal and two assists in a 9-1 win over West Bend East.
