Below are the PlayInTheDells.com Athlete of the Week Nominees for the week of October 7 through 13. Voting is open until Thursday at 4pm, so be sure to vote for who you feel is most deserving and spread the word. Users may vote once per day.

PlayInTheDells.com Athlete of the Week Nominees: Oct. 7-13

Brittany Kapla, Denmark girls volleyball: The Denmark girls volleyball was rolling this past week as they picked up a pair of North Eastern Conference wins as well as taking home gold in a weekend tournament. Brittany was phenomenal throughout. In a 3-2 thriller over Luxemburg-Casco, Brittany had 20 kills and 19 digs. She followed that up with 19 kills, 16 digs, and three blocks in a 3-0 sweep of Waupaca. Denmark competed at the Oconto Falls Invite and came away with a first place finish as Brittany had 44 kills, 34 digs, and eight aces throughout the day.

Georgi Schmutzer, Auburndale girls volleyball: Auburndale went a perfect 4-0 on Saturday at the Edgar Invite and also swept Pittsville Thursday behind the play of Georgi. In the sweep of Pittsville, Georgi had 29 assists and seven digs. Throughout the four matches on Saturday, she played extremely well, accumulating 67 assists, 12 kills, and 22 digs to lead the team to a first place finish.

Adam Hobson, Stoughton football: Adam had quite the weekend as the two-sport athlete led the football team to a win on Friday and committed to play Division 2 basketball at Michigan Tech on Sunday. Friday Stoughton trounced Monroe 53-18 as Adam was incredible through the air and via the run. He only attempted 12 passes, completing nine of them, for 212 yards and three touchdowns. He added two more scores to round out his do-it-all performance.

Cael Grotenhuis, Slinger boys cross country: Cael has been absolutely outstanding this year running for the Slinger boys cross country team. Coming into last week, he finished first in all six events he had competed in. On Thursday he ran in the Port Washington Invite. Par the course, Cael took home another first place finish, ending with a time of 15:42.8 minutes. He won the race by an incredible 49 seconds.

Devon Davey, Elkhorn boys soccer: The Elkhorn boys soccer team has been rolling this year. They came into last week ranked second in the state in Division 2. Devon has has been a steady leader throughout the season and accounted for six goals this past week in two matches. In a 6-0 shutout over Badger, he netted a pair of goals. Devon followed that up with two goals and two assists as Elkhorn blasted past Saint Anthony 8-1.
