Nate Oestreich of Dodgeland has been selected as the Week 8 Player of the Week following a statewide vote on WisSports.net. His big day not only led to a win but kept his team's playoff hopes alive. He was chosen from a strong group of nominees in Week 8. A total of 7,563 votes were cast, as Oestreich's 2,944 were enough to edge second place Cole Wisniewski of Sparta, who tallied 2,032 votes.

Dodgeland kept its playoff hopes alive with a 42-24 win over Montello/Princeton/Green Lake on Friday. The Trojans led 20-18 at halftime as Nate Oestreich went in for three, first-half touchdowns on the ground. He'd add another midway through the third quarter to put Dodgeland up by two scores, adding a 57-yard touchdown catch in the fourth quarter after Montello/Princeton/Green Lake cut the margin to 11 points. For the game, Oestreich finished with 38 carries for 337 yards and four rushing touchdowns in addition to the 57-yard touchdown reception.

Remember folks, the only way your favorite player can be named WisSports.net Player of the Week is to vote and share the word. Look for the Week 9 nominees to be posted Monday afternoon.
