UW-Marinette wins Wisconsin Collegiate Conference Volleyball Tournament, plus All-Conference announced

UW-Green Bay, Marinette CLAIMS TOURNAMENT TITLE

UW-Green Bay, Marinette captured the championship at the recent Wisconsin Collegiate Conference women's volleyball tournament held at JustAGame Fieldhouse in Wisconsin Dells. The Buccaneers won the National Pool of the WCC, earning the top seed in the playoffs. In the tournament semi-finals, Marinette got past UW-Platteville, Richland two games to none to advance to the championship match.

UW-Milwaukee, Washington was the top seed from the American Pool. The Wildcats defeated UW-Oshkosh, Fox Cities 2-1, advancing to take on Marinette.

The championship match went quickly, as Marinette claimed a straight sets victory. The title comes after Marinette advanced to the semi-finals last season.

WCC WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL ALL-CONFERENCE AWARDS ANNOUNCED

The Wisconsin Collegiate Conference also announced its postseason awards for the 2019 season. 

In the East Division, UW-Washington's Kayla Boehm and UW-Sheboygan's Faith Tunks were named the co-Players of the Year. Boehn was the Player of the Year last season for the Wildcats. Faith Jorasz of Marinette and Caryn Hamm of Washington took home shared Setter of the Year recognition, while Lilly Scheffler of Fox Cities and Heather Pokorski of Washington received the co-Defensive Specialist of the Year. UW-Washington's Debbie Butschlick and UW-Fox Cities' Alison Blackford were cited as the co-Coaches of the Year in the East Division.

The West Division Player of the Year was shared by Macey Klebesadel of Richland and Ellie Larson of Wausau. The Setter of the Year was Barron's Krista Lien. Isabella Benson of UW-Marshfield was named the Defensive Specialist of the Year. UW-Barron's Christy Talbot Potvin took home Coach of the Year honors for a second straight season.
