The Mondovi Buffaloes have been selected as the Level 3 WSN Team of the Week following a statewide vote on WSN. The team scored a wild 29-22 win over Mineral Point to advance to the state semi-finals for the first time in nearly 30 years. The Buffaloes were chosen from a strong group of nominees in Level 3. A total of 6,298 votes were cast, as Mondovi's 1,868 votes edged Waukesha West's 1,545 votes.

Mondovi and Mineral Point played a wild, thrilling Level 3 game on Friday, each showing why they entered the Division 6 contest unbeaten on the season. While Mondovi led 14-12 at halftime, the Buffaloes found themselves trailing 22-14 entering the fourth quarter. They tied the game up on a one-yard Taner Marsh touchdown run, and it remained deadlocked at 22 until late in the fourth. With under a minute to go, Mineral Point picked off a Mondovi desperation pass inside the five yard-line. Eschewing playing for overtime, the Pointers tried passing the ball, and Mondovi's Carter Johnson stepped in front of a bubble screen to intercept Isaac Lindsey and return it three yards for a touchdown. Mondovi would pick off Lindsey again on a Hail Mary to give the defense five interceptions for the game. Marsh finished with 168 yards and two scores on the ground in the 29-22 win, while Johnson had the huge interception score plus a rushing touchdown to help make up for some struggles throwing the football. Mondovi is on to the state semi-finals for the first time since 1990.

Remember folks, the only way your favorite team can be named WSN Team of the Week is to vote and share the word.
