Sturgeon Bay junior Carson Dvorak has been selected as the PlayInTheDells.com Athlete of the Week after a vote on WSN.
There were 9,488 total votes this week. Carson topped all vote getters with 3,055 votes. Clear Lake's Maggie Rosen came in second with 2,479 votes.
Sturgeon Bay has been a constant at the WIAA Boys Soccer State Tournament the last 10 years. They were making their eighth appearance at state since 2019, only winning gold once in 2015.
Carson, who was a unanimous first team all-conference selection in the Packerland Conference, played incredibly over the weekend as was a huge reason why they captured a second championship. In the Division 4 semi-final match against Northland Pines, he recorded a goal and an assist as Sturgeon Bay advanced with a 5-1 victory. Sturgeon Bay then faced off with The Prairie School in the Division 4 championship. After 90 minutes of play, it was knotted up at 1-1 and headed to overtime. After a scoreless first overtime, Carson netted the game-winning goal in the 107th minute to clinch a 2-1 victory and Division 4 gold.
