PlayInTheDells.com Athlete of the Week Nominees: Nov. 11-17

Deven Magli, DeForest football: Deven was a catalyst on the DeForest defense that held New Berlin Eisenhower to just nine points in their 14-9 Level 4 win. Deven had a team high seven tackles on the game. He made the biggest impact late in the fourth quarter. With under three minutes left in regulation, Deven intercepted two different passes on two different drives to stifle any game-winning score for Eisenhower. Magli's playmaking ability sends DeForest to its first state appearance since 2007.

Mitchell Mahler, Kiel football: Kiel kept their undefeated season in tact behind the calm, cool, collected play of their quarterback. Mitchell led the offense on four scoring drives in a 24-14 win over Wrightstown. From the quarterback position he ran for 76 yards and two scores will throwing for 92 yards. His four yard touchdown run with eight minutes remaining in the game clinched Kiel's first ever trip to Camp Randall and the state championship in school history.

Andrew Schumacher, Lake Country Lutheran football: Andrew led a Lightning defense that shutout a talented Prairie du Chien team 25-0 in Level 4 play. His 13 tackles led the stifling defense that held the Blackhawk rushing attack to only 51 yards on 29 carries. He added two sacks as well, continuously putting pressure on the quarterback. It wasn't all defense for Andrew, as he hauled in a 75 yard touchdown reception to open up the scoring in the first quarter.

Tristan Root, Regis football: Regis' rushing attack is about as balanced as any in the state of Wisconsin. Nine different players have accounted for a rushing touchdown on the season. In their 36-6 Level 4 win over Abbotsford, Tristan led that rushing attack. He rushed for 97 yards on the night and two touchdowns. He also handled kicking duties, going a perfect four of four on extra points. Defensively, Tristan added six tackles and an interception to thwart a potent Abbotsford rushing attack.

Levi Jensen, Luck football: Luck has been the perennial powerhouse in 8-Player football since its re-introduction in 2012. Their run game has been unstoppable all season, and was just that again in the 2019 State Championship. Levi could not be stopped by the Newman Catholic defense in Luck's 42-27 win. He rushed 25 times for 432 yards and five touchdowns. Levi averaged 17.3 yards per rush and had rushing touchdowns of 65,72, 98, 1, and 38 yards. Not only was he excellent offensively, but Levi led the Luck defense with 10 total tackles.
