2019 Recap

Brillion turned out to be the team that could dethrone Two Rivers after roughly half a decade of dominance.

The Lions claimed the team title courtesy of a trio of individual champs.

In total, the conference produced 12 state qualifiers, including three place-winners and a trio of state champions.

Eight of last year’s conference champions are expected back this season.

Team Previews

Brillion

All three of the Lions’ 2019 conference champs are back in the fold this year.

Grant Geiger highlights that group. The junior was Brillion’s lone state qualifier last year. He won the conference title at 106 and ended the season with a record of 41-4.

Sophomore Garrett Kilgas and junior Carter Stebane are also returning. Kilgas was conference champ at 160, while Stebane was tops at 182 pounds.

The Lions begin the season ranked No. 6 in Division 3 according to the Wisconsin Wrestling Online team rankings.

Two Rivers

Three of TR’s conference-best six 2019 conference champions are returning this year.

Matty Bianchi leads the way. He was both a conference and state champion last season and is currently ranked No. 16 in the nation at 138 pounds by FloWrestling.

Bianchi, who has committed to wrestle at Division 1 Arkansas-Little Rock in college, was 50-2 last season.

Senior Nolan Hansen (113) and junior Bailey Thielen (138), who were both conference champs a year ago, are also back in the mix.

Chilton/Hilbert

Chilton/Hilbert will enjoy the return of a pair of state qualifiers this season.

Gavin Lisowe was 24-8 and qualified for the state tournament in D2 at 152 pounds as a junior last season.

Chilton/Hilbert opens the season as the No. 9 team in D2 according to Wisconsin Wrestling Online.

Kiel

The Raiders have a dynamic duo in Andrew Schad (120) and Alex Kleinhans (170).

Both were conference champions at their respective weight classes last year.

Schad went on to qualify for State where he placed fifth, finishing the year with a 46-7 mark.

Kiel starts this campaign ranked No. 10 in D2 according to Wisconsin Wrestling Online.

Sheboygan Falls
