Below are the PlayInTheDells.com Athlete of the Week Nominees for the week of January 6 through January 12. Voting is open until Thursday at 4pm, so be sure to vote for who you feel is most deserving and spread the word. Users may vote once per day.

PlayInTheDells.com Athlete of the Week Nominees: Jan. 6-12

Caroline Strande, Racine Lutheran girls basketball: Caroline has been a prolific scorer in her four years at Racine Lutheran. This past weekend she surpassed a milestone proving that. In a 72-31 win over Catholic Central, Caroline had 36 points on 14 of 19 shooting while added 14 steals defensively. Caroline crossed the 2,000 point threshold in her prep career in the win.

Julianna Ouimette, Lakeland girls basketball: Julianna was perfect from the field as Lakeland blew out Northland Pines 64-28. She went 13 of 13 from the field en route to 32 points in the game. On the season, Julianna is shooting a proficient 60% from the field. Julianna added seven rebounds and eight steals in the victory.

Gabe Wertel, Denmark wrestling: Gabe took home the individual title at 195 pounds at the Fred Lehrke Invite in D.C. Everest over the weekend. Gabe is ranked fifth in Division 2 in his weight class and to win the title, he had to take down second-ranked Isaac Banker of Bonduel. He pinned Banker in 1:52 in the championship bout to take the title. Gabe is 24-2 on the year.

Gerald Gittens, SJNMA boys basketball: SJNMA had a tough task taking on Lake Country Lutheran last Wednesday. The senior point guard helped seal the deal down the stretch as SJNMA took a 59-55 win. Gerald made nine of ten free throws in the final minutes of the game to secure the win. He finished with 17 points, 11 rebounds, and six assists.

Brayden Dailey, Cuba City boys basketball: Brayden recorded a pair of double-doubles this past week as Cuba City picked up a pair of SWAL Conference wins. In an 85-53 win over Boscobel, Brayden had 20 points and 12 rebounds. The Cubans then faced off with Division 4, fourth-ranked Fennimore. They pulled out a tight 74-70 win behind 25 points and 15 rebounds from Brayden.
