WIAC Kwik Trip Athletes of the Week
(Week of January 6-12)

MEN’S BASKETBALL

Carter Voelker, Senior (Kiel, Wis.), Guard of UW-Platteville

Voelker averaged 18.0 points, 7.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists and one steal per game, while shooting 45.7 percent (16-of-35) from the field to lead the Pioneers to a 2-0 week in conference play. In a 74-70 win over UW-Oshkosh on Jan. 8, Voelker had 21 points, seven rebounds, five assists and a steal, while shooting 42.9 percent (9-of-21) from the field. He scored 15 points with eight rebounds, three assists and a steal in a 60-53 victory over UW-Eau Claire on Jan. 11. Voelker shot 50.0 percent (7-of-14) from the field in the win.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

Hallee Hoeppner, Senior (Winona, Minn.), Forward of UW-Eau Claire

Hoeppner played a strong role for the Blugolds as they went 2-0 on the week to improve their WIAC record to 2-1. She scored 34 points in two games, while shooting 9-of-19 (47.4 percent) from the floor, 3-of-7 (42.9 percent) from three-point range and 13-of-14 (92.9 percent) from the free-throw stripe. Hoeppner tallied a double-double (19 point, 11 rebounds) in a 64-59 win over UW-Stout, including scoring a couple of timely baskets late in the game. Against UW-Platteville, she rallied the Blugolds to a 73-58 win, scoring 13 of her 15 points in the second half, despite being down four points at the half. Hoeppner also added 20 rebounds, nine assists and four blocks in two games, while averaging 39 minutes per contest.
